Once again, my time with this Denon Home setup continues to satisfy with its balance of sonic finesse, dynamics, and a decent amount of energy. The Home 150 is a surprising speaker discovery, and looks to be shaping up to be one of the best-sounding entry-level smart speakers I've heard. Pair two Denon Home 150 speakers using the HEOS app and enjoy true stereo. Denon Home 150 speakers work as left and right speakers to provide a Hi-Fi quality system, just without the system. Even listen to your Hi-Res collection with the accuracy and attention to detail your music deserves. GET THE AMAZING HEOS EXPERIENCE. The Home 150 is the smallest of the three wireless speakers in the Denon Home range. A solid and substantial object, with a 12cm-square footprint and 19cm height, it has the same sturdy fabric wrap as the soundbar, with a screw-threaded mounting hole at the rear should you wish to hang your Home 150s on a wall. We find the HEOS app enjoyable and easy to use, especially as it doesn’t have the habit of some others in losing sight of the target device and having to reconnect each time you open the app. So although there’s no physical remote available or possible here, you miss it less than on those other systems.

It delivered the richness of Tom Hiddleston’s outrageously deep voice in the last episode of Loki, and the deep brass notes through Loki’s closing theme. There was no thinness to big action scenes, no softness to fight sequences – this is the best and certainly the largest soundbar performance we’ve heard from a lone lozenge-type design. They are all HEOS-equipped, so that platform delivers full streaming access to online music services, network streaming from music shares up to high-res audio quality, and the ability to function in a multiroom system with other HEOS-equipped products. You can also pair them into stereo – still more impressive for music this way, with far more power and energy, and a full stereo spread of music. And if you’re adding Denon’s wireless subwoofer to your TV system, then you could at any time choose to pair that sub to with one Home 150, or with the stereo pair, to fill out this sound still further. In contrast an also-resident B&W Wedge already had the openness to boast, and sounded more even — but with the Home 350 you gain the great merits of the HEOS app and the usefulness of external inputs in more easily accessing your music. And there’s always the top surface to use, which illuminates as you approach to show six user-definable preset buttons, plus play/pause and volume control. Again, these are simple and intuitive to use. We do provide installation options for built-in appliances providing it is simply a case of fitting the appliance and furniture doors. Any additional work to the kitchen units or carpentry work required will need to be completed at the customer’s expense.

A MIGHTY PERFORMER.

We spent a morning streaming Tidal music via the HEOS app; at times it sounded a little flat, but given a good mix the bar could open up some nice musical pictures, and played musically enough to be enjoyed, if not to truly inspire. The Home 150 can only output sound in mono channel (i.e. one channel), which gives it the characteristic of being very directional in its delivery of sound. Effectively, you’d need to be sitting in front of the speaker to get the best performance, while with the Era 100 you have more room to switch up where you sit in relation to the speaker. The Denon is slightly smarter Our Installation Service only includes connecting to existing points and fixings. This does not include installing or moving plumbing, connection points or electrics. Installing new points or moving existing points is the customer’s responsibility we can recommend local tradesmen however this will be at the customer’s expense and we not accept any liability for their work. With these three strong, musical and versatile smart speakers, together with a heap of existing HEOS family members, Denon’s Home series looks to be a true contender for your multiroom dollar if the cabinet design and pricing appeals. All three performed well, with the Home 250 proving a particular sonic sweetspot. The app also works with other Denon Heos speakers, not just Home 150 speakers, which can be paired in groups, but also Heos soundbars or larger speakers. The app allows for multi-room control of all of the Heos speakers in your house. Assuming, however, that the only speaker you have is this one, the app is still useful, as it provides access to the streaming services mentioned, as well as firmware updates. For what it's worth, we found it easier to stream audio from an iPhone via AirPlay 2 than the Heos app, which occasionally had some streaming hiccups and didn't work as well as Apple's native streaming does.

We confess we deliberately ran the rears a little hot, pushed up to accentuate the surround; it may not be entirely correct, but it can be more fun. Conversely we levelled the subwoofer where we could just hear it, which is less intrusive. With HEOS Built-in, every room in your home can have its own sound. Or, group additional Denon Home speakers, sound bars, network player or AV receivers to fill the house with the same song, using your home network. With HEOS Built-in, multi-room means multiple options. A GREAT COMPOSITION. With its small footprint and compact dimensions, the Denon Home 150 is ideal for even the smallest spaces. Ideal for desktops, bedside tables and smaller rooms, the Home 150 is the perfect wireless speaker for any space. The 9 centimetre bass-mid driver is housed in a closed-box design compartment. You would not find any port venting or passive radiator in the home 150. For such a small speaker, this is rather unusual. After all, most manufacturers are trying to squeeze the last bit of sound energy out of just a few liters. However, the closed cabinet is said to deliver a more precise bass and therefore might be of signifcant advantage in case of problematic acoustical conditions, especially when positioned on a shelf or in a corner. Applications and connections

The Denon Home range uses the HEOS app for streaming and multiroom, and given that HEOS also appears in an extensive range of products from Denon and Marantz, these three speakers can become part of a multiroom system far beyond this Denon Home range. And, perhaps more excitingly if you’re someone who likes to see how stuff works, the Era 100 has been built with serviceability in mind, using screws to more easily disassemble and repair. If the speaker stops working, and you know what you’re doing, you could fix it yourself. That’s not an option for the Denon Home 150 with its sealed design. They can act as rear gunners File support includes MP3, AAC and WMA, and stretches to Hi-Res with 192kHz/24-bit FLAC, WAV, ALAC and DSD 2.8/5.6MHz. These files can be played over the network or via the rear USB port. In the vast majority of cases we will not be able to install the cabinet doors to built-in laundry products as the fittings very rarely match up. We will try our best however if we are unable to do this we will still install connect to plumbing and put the appliance in situ.
