Value Creation - The Personal MBA Value Creation - The Personal MBA

First 1/3 part of this audio book is mostly a waste of time. It's a very basic overview of some complicated tasks you'll meet in business live. Only reason I gave it a 4 star was the completely unnecessary and relevant beginning which goes on much much much too long about how useless a regular MBA is. Skip this, it adds nothing to the content.Business Book Summary: The Miracle Morning covers some of the best practices for waking up in the morning. It teaches readers how to wake up with more energy and motivation. He encourages readers to start each day with good habits. Business books such as this include actionable steps to improve your mornings. Do these well, and your team will be highly productive. Do them poorly, and you'll be fortunate to get anything useful done at all. If you’re thinking about starting a new business, defining what these processes might look like is the best place to start. If you can’t describe or diagram your business idea in terms of these core processes, you don’t understand it well enough to make it work. Questions About The '5 Parts of Every Business' Read business books like this because:Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In is one of the few business books geared for women. Women are encouraged to break the glass ceiling and accept praise when deserved. She encourages women to “…be more empowered at work.” She teaches women to focus on being independent instead of relying on mentors. The best advice Sandberg gives in her book is “Taking initiative pays off. It is hard to visualize someone as a leader if she is always waiting to be told what to do.” 15. The Ultimate Guide to Starting Your First Ecommerce Business by Tomas Slimas Whether you are just beginning the test prep process or you want more personalized help, you have come to the right place!

The Personal MBA 10th Anniversary Edition - Penguin Random House The Personal MBA 10th Anniversary Edition - Penguin Random House

The first hour of the audiobook is setting the scene, with a variety of weak arguments about why an MBA is a waste of time and money, but giving absolutely no evidence that the Author's approach (of just reading lots of books without going to school) isn't also a waste of time and slightly less money. I thought this was going to be an interesting book - giving an overview of the topics covered in an MBA from a layman's point of view, with references to further reading materials. Instead, it was a 13 hour advert for some guy's blog. If you're expecting this to be a substitute for an MBA course, you'll be disappointed, and rightly so. If, however, you are looking for an excellent summary of a great deal of critical business, psychology and marketing concepts, that any aspiring entrepreneur or successful business owner should know, then this is the audiobook to get your hands on. The 5 Parts of Every Business are the basis of every good business idea and business plan. If you can clearly define each of these five processes for any business, you’ll have a complete understanding of how it works. For me, it was the author's prologue on how he got to this point in his own journey. It was inspiring. What did you like best about The Personal MBA: Master the Art of Business? What did you like least? This style of management practice is not the command-and-control style of management most people think of when they hear the term. On TV and in most management literature, managers are high status executives who spend most of their time telling other people what to do and making important decisions. In practice, those behaviors are telltale signs of poor management.

Why it’s a great business book: This is one of the most influential business books on dealing with people. Mega-billionaire Warren Buffett was so greatly influenced by Dale Carnegie’s book that he even signed up for one of his public speaking courses. The book contains numerous nuggets of information to help make you a better leader, listener, and relationship builder. It’s one of those books that you should re-read throughout your career and the author even recommends re-reading it. It contains many quotable moments such as “You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.” If you implement the concepts from business books like this, you’ll create a more enthusiastic team, improve customer service, and more. 2. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill However, as a reference book, it's really not a great listen on your daily commute. Think dictionary-on-tape. Maybe that's a little harsh, but it's not exactly a pot boiler that makes you miss your exit.Without Value-Creation, a business can’t exist — you can’t transact with others unless you first have something to trade. The best businesses in the world are the ones that create the most value for other people. Have an aggressive plan to complete the project, but don't have unrealistic expectations regarding certainty and prediction. You only have so much time and energy to get things done each day. Of all of the things that are on your to-do list right now, some of them are really important, and some of them really aren’t important. If you want to make the most of your limited time and energy, it pays to focus on completing the tasks that will make the biggest difference first, before spending your time and energy on anything else. Anyone who tries to make business sound more complicated than this is either trying to impress you with their worldliness or sell you something you don’t need.

MBA? About the Degree, Programs, Jobs, and More What Is an MBA? About the Degree, Programs, Jobs, and More

Business Book Synopsis: The Art of War by Sun Tzu is an ancient Chinese military book. However, many of the concepts in this book apply to politics and business. The book shares insights into how to outsmart the competition and how to be an effective leader. It doesn’t matter if you’re running a solo venture or a billion-dollar brand. Take any one of these five factors away, and you don’t have a business — you have something else. What’s this business book about: The 4-Hour Workweek is considered a game-changing business book by many. It offers insight into how life is and how it could be. Ferris shares his story of how he was an overworked entrepreneur and how he managed to create a better work-life balance. The book offers a step-by-step guide to lower your workweek such as via outsourcing. In the beginning of The Personal MBA, Kaufman reveals something striking: research shows there is little evidence that getting an MBA has any correlation with long term success in Business. Top tier Business programs make sure that they only accept brilliant students, which is why many go on to greatness. Business schools make it their business to take credit for other people's work-namely, your undergraduate degree, and your having studied for the GMAT. In a perfect world, you'd be better off, studying for the GMAT, applying to Harvard Business, getting accepted, and then refusing to attend (and pay the exorbitant tuition, and 2 years of your life), then bragging on your CV that you were accepted at Harvard, and applying for a plum job with a Fortune 500 company, ready to put you through the Management training program.Make something people want... There’s nothing more valuable than an unmet need that is just becoming fixable. If you find something broken that you can fix for a lot of people, you’ve found a gold mine." Paul Graham, founder of Y Combinator, venture capitalist and essayist at paulgraham.com Business Book Description: The Lean Startup by Eric Ries encourages business to be more efficient with their spending while maximizing the creativity of employees. It covers topics such as experimentation, ways to measure progress and how to understand the needs of customers. The book’s focus is on teaching businesses to be more adaptable. The more your team works together under mutually supportive conditions, the more Clanning will naturally occur, and the more cohesive the team will become. 4. Create an Environment where everyone can be as productive as possible, then let people work. Management is the act of coordinating a group of people to achieve a specific goal while accounting for any Change or Uncertainty. It's rare that I listen to audio book and then run out and buy the dead-tree edition. But I will with this one. This is a reference book that should be on the desk of every entrepreneur or business owner. In clear, simple terms, devoid of buzz words Kaufman lays out everything you need to know about business. It truly is an MBA-lite.
