Spray the paper itself – before framing – by using a product on the market called “Never Wet” by Rustoleum (I have yet to try it, but have seen and heard good things about it). Here are 2 links that demonstrate just how water-resistant the material is: https://www.artmolds.com/blog/water-proof-your-art.html (this one has a video demonstration) AND http://www.blueistyleblog.com/2016/07/HowToWaterproofOutdoorArt.html. Ink-jet printouts – Before using Mod Podge, we recommend sealing with a matte acrylic sealer to prevent ink smearing. Spray a very light coat, let dry and spray again.

You can see what each of the Mod Podge formulas look like when they are dry below! I painted them on a gray piece of paper, so the point is to show you the light reflecting properties. Mod podge has its own formulation and is not some watered-down white school glue. What is great about the product is that it is also non-toxic, water-based, and comes in gloss or matte finishers. Below are the three basic purposes of mod podge: None of the Mod Podge formulas are food safe, so they are not recommended to be in a toddler’s mouth. Mod Podge is non-toxic, but it’s better safe than sorry. I have not found an acrylic product that I would recommend for this use. Is there such thing as colored Mod Podge? Can I tint Mod Podge with paint? So if you are doing an outdoor project, you don’t need any additional Mod Podges. All you need is this one green bottle! Allow the mixture to cool down completely, or it may cause the mod podge to start fermenting. You can now pour the cooled-down mixture into your jar and give it a final stir. Close the lid of the jar and ensure it is properly sealed. Plastics. You’ll need to test the plastic first with a small square of paper or fabric. Mod Podge the paper/fabric down and let it dry for 15 minutes. If it peels off really easily, it’s not going to work. Technically, no. BUT if you Mod Podge a piece of paper to wood, it’s not going to come off without some serious work ( learn how to remove Mod Podge). Glass– Thoroughly wash in warm, soapy water to remove dirt, dust, and grease film. Then rinse in warm water and let it dry.

Apply your topcoat and repeat for two or three coats, then wipe off any excess, and your project is done! Are you ready to learn all the Mod Podge uses in existence? Okay, this isn’t a list of all of them. I’ve been blogging about this craft supply for ten years and I still see new things it can do at least once a week. Mod Podge is so versatile, and I’m excited to share 101 Mod Podge uses with you today. Mod Podge Uses What type of paint must be used on the canvas? You can use acrylic paint, spray paint or chalk paint, the only paint you must not use is latex paint as it causes the mod podge to bubble. Turn off the heat and allow the oven (with your item still in the oven) to cool to room temperature.

To reduce brushstrokes from any of these formulas, use a soft bristled brush and then sand between coats. To do this, apply the Mod Podge and let it dry an hour. You will need a certain type of Mod Podge depending on your project. Different projects require different formulas. Read my Mod Podge formula guide to learn more. How Do I Get Started? After applying Mod Podge Ultra, the project surface may take four to 24 hours to thoroughly dry. It is best to keep the project surface flat until the Mod Podge Ultra has set. Once set and thoroughly dry, all 3D items will be secure. Should I topcoat a Mod Podge Ultra project surface? If you want a glossy or glitter finish to your mod podge, you need to select a slightly larger jar. What you are (essentially) going to do is cut out shapes from something like paper or fabric, and then attach them to a surface. You will use Mod Podge to glue down the shape to the surface.

If you want a glossy finish to your project, add one tablespoon of water-based varnish. Also, if you want a glitter finish, add two tablespoons of super-fine glitter. Find a clean glass or plastic jar that can hold around 355 ml, and ensure it has a very tight-fitting lid. You can also use a pencil and trace the shape of the object onto the canvas where you want it to be. Mod Podge is a craft supply made up of several ingredients, including vinyl acetate. The combination produces a product that is somewhat water resistant, but not waterproof. How long do I need to cure my Mod Podge Outdoor project before putting it outside?Let project cure completely in a dry room with 68 degree or higher temperature for 72 hours. And that’s it! Now simply hang up using your choice of hanger ( Vinyl Clips or Command Hooks for Outdoor Use).Yes, you can. But you will need to re-Podge the entire surface. Otherwise you’ll be able to see where it’s Mod Podged versus where it’s sealed. Is it possible to ‘un-Mod Podge’ something once you have Mod Podged it? All the conventional resins leave you with a hard, varnish-type finish, which is also very toxic and needs to be mixed before being used. However, this formulation gives you the same epoxy-like finish, and once dry it is clear, it is ideal for those paper and jewelry projects. The dimensional magic mod podge can be applied in layers, but each layer needs to dry properly before applying the next layer. This formulation is produced in glitter as well as a clear finish. I know a lot of people sell their projects online, and therefore want to ship their items. Read my instructions here for doing it without ruining everything!
