The Mistake was my second book by K.L.Slater and though I did not like it as much as The Liar, it was still a well written, entertaining mystery. I did guess who the culprit was before the ending, which took a little of the suspense out of the story for me, but overall, it was a solid book and I will continue to read his author's work. The book focuses on Josie Bennett who, as a young teenage girl, lost her brother in the most tragic of ways. Jimmy was only 8 years old when he went missing, and family friend, Samuel Barlow was charged with his murder. Twenty-five years on, Josie’s life goes on, she is a single mother with a young daughter and is running a successful catering business. When she hears that Barlow is to be released from prison five years early, her life heads off into a spin and Josie is convinced that Barlow will be out for revenge for Josie giving evidence against him.

For sure, there's no shortage of twists and turns in this one. On the other hand, the only reason most of them happen is that at least one major character can't get her head on straight and ignores even the most conventional wisdom - which I must say didn't exactly endear her to me. Overall, though, it's a nonstop adventure that makes for a perfect read on a sandy beach or next to a roaring fireplace. A compelling thriller that will mess with your head and make you think what would I have done? Twists, turns, secrets, lies, and a bit of a Darkside! Recommend! Missing was my first book by K.L. Slater but it definitely won't be my last. Missing is an absolutely gripping thriller that will keep your heart rate elevated throughout. What's the thing almost all of us fear the most? That someone we love will be taken and missing or that they are gone for good. That's what Missing is about and it takes the reader on quite the scary journey! I thought I had the mystery solved but I was wrong as the story takes twists and turns throughout. Slater weaves such a great story that I found myself looking for time to read during a busy few days and thinking about the book when I wasn't able to read. That's when you know you're reading a great book!I turn on my baby girl’s unicorn nightlight and bury my face in her pillow, my heart breaking. I know Samuel has her – he blames me for ruining his life, and even after all this time, he still doesn’t like to share. I was introduced to K.L Slater with her novel, “Liar”. Although I was a huge fan of “Liar”, I am an even bigger fan of “The Mistake”. Samuel had been obsessed with Josie…always watching from afar, and didn’t like sharing her with her little brother. Rose is playing the blaming game with herself. Sixteen years ago her eight year old brother, Billy went missing while she was watching him. He was found dead and Rose is still asking herself what if.... Samuel lived next door when we were children. We were inseparable. But he didn’t like sharing me with my adored little brother. And one terrible night, he got rid of my brother forever… The Mistake is a chilling and unsettling story of manipulation, obsession, and control that sent chills through us yet we were unable to put the book down until we reached the satisfying ending. The story also created a feeling of dread for us as it also revolves around the disappearance of a little boy. Even though I find this type of storyline to be very unsettling we felt K.L. Slater added just the right amount of dread without causing any unsettling feelings.I liked this book, which had a few good twists. The story centers on Josie, whose 8 year old brother was murdered when she was a teen. Now it’s been 25 years and she has her own 8 year old child when the convicted murderer is released from prison. When her own daughter goes missing she thinks it’s pretty apparent who did it but the police have to launch a full investigation.

The Girlfriend: An utterly unputdownable psychological

Samuel's Mother wants to help, but she lied in the past to protect her child. Can she be trusted now?And as the search for Grace reaches fever pitch, Lucie receives a terrifying message. If she is ever to see Grace again, Lucie has no choice but to face the past she tried hard to bury forever. And she must do it alone. Wow!!! This book is fantastically written and had me hook, line and sinker from beginning to end. The descriptions were so in depth and vivid that the hair on my arms was standing on the ends and my heart was pounding throughout. The synopsis, title and cover were perfect for the storyline. Sixteen years ago, Rose’s eight-year-old brother Billy went missing. His body was found two days later. After all this time, Rose still blames herself for his death and her failure to protect him. Someone was ultimately convicted of Billy’s murder but was it the right person? Rose thought she knew the truth but when she finds something in her neighbour’s house, doubts creep in and her world is turned upside down once again.

Rose learns the hard way that he is not to be trusted, but its taken her some time and some loses along the way, including her best friendship with Cassie. But was it too early to allow a nine year old girl to walk just a short distance down to her friends house?ABOUT THIS BOOK: This morning, my daughter sat right here, munching her breakfast, too excited to finish it. Now, she is missing. Every step of the way, readers will be wondering who can be trusted. This book is told through various character's POV and in the current time and in 1993.
