Description

The biggest change is that the G700 is able to work in either wired or wireless modes in a similar fashion to Razer’s Mamba. The separate wireless receiver is tiny and once fitted into any rarely used USB 2 port instantly connects the mouse. There's a power switch on the bottom of the mosue to save battery power. Use the sliders to adjust speed and SmartShift sensitivity. You can also change the direction of the scroll and thumb wheel, and set the scroll wheel to Ratchet or Freespin:

After you've set the sensitivity, you can use the button to toggle between your Master mouse and Custom mouse sensitivity.

Features and Specifications

In the gaming mouse arms race it’s been a while since Logitech has rolled out a new super-weapon with which to frag your competition. Barring the G9, Logitech has used the same tried and tested design for its gaming mice since 2002 when the legendary MX 500 was first released. While the G700 is a new design for Logitech, it's still recognisable as a Logitech mouse. We wanted to take this wireless gaming mouse for a spin and see if the new shape and features added up. Adjustable DPI settings. You can save up to five DPI levels per profile and switch between them using two buttons located just to the left of the LMB. If you don't like the default button placement (which I personally don't - I find it too easy to accidentally press the LMB) you can always assign the functions to different buttons. Lets go over the functionality, pros, and the few cons and defects it has accumulated over its long life. You have an option to use wired. The battery adds a lot of weight to the mouse making it significantly heavier than most gaming mice. Doesn't really slow me down but if that is going to slow you down, you can pull out the battery and use it wired with a micro USB cable. My only gripe with the product (which I think I accepted before purchasing anyway) is the battery life. The MX was able to go for days on end without requiring a recharge. The G700s? Not so much. Using the normal gaming setting with 1000 polls per second, I can see probably 5-6 hours of gaming before I need to plug the mouse in to recharge it. Using the mouse on a normal basis with the power saving feature and a much lower polling rate I can get a few days out of the mouse, but not much more. So while I knew the battery life wasn't going to be as good as the MX, its slightly below my original expectation of how long it would last. Personally, I would have loved to see 2 AA batteries in the mouse for extended battery life.

The bottom of the mouse has an off and on switch as well as 4 large pads and the laser itself. The mouse can go up to 8200dpi. I don't go anywhere near that high for dpi but it's good to know that it's in option if I ever need to in the future. The bottom of the mouse is fairly busy, with four largish skates surrounding the battery compartment, the on/off switch and the lase sensor. Beyond just the buttons, the ergonomic design of this mouse is absolutely fantastic. The way to hold this mouse comes perfectly naturally, and the mouse fits in the palm of your hand perfectly. The position of all your fingers come naturally, from the thumb to the pinky, and the wear on my old mouse shows this! I've used many different mice in different settings: Other gaming mice from friends, school and office mice, etc.., and none of them can be beat ergonomically by this mouse. Genuinely, I can not rate the ergonomics of this mouse any higher, it is just the most perfect mouse I have ever had in this department. The G700S immediately distinguishes itself with a curved design, sculpted to suit right-handed mousers. The mouse makes use of different material in different zones, resulting in a mouse that is easy to grip and comfortable to wield. The mouse is quite weighty compared to wired mice, thanks to the batteries and added complexity. The mouse can be used while plugged in to a USB cable and recharging. I used to have a wireless mouse that couldn't be used while it was recharging and that one thing annoyed me so much I ended up replacing it after only a few months. However, the USB recharging cable can sometimes be a hassle (see first bullet in CONS below). To determine if your Logitech device is Unifying compatible, look for this Unifying logo on your device. This may be a manufacturing defect on my particular mouse only, but I've noticed that the scroll wheel is a little loose when it comes to moving it left and right. This makes it slightly awkward to push the scroll wheel left and right. Advanced surface materials : Advanced materials to each zone; hydrophobic coating on the palm area, fingerprint-resistant coating to the buttons, dry grip on the sides.

Logitech G700s Rechargeable Gaming Laser Mouse Review - PCMag

The G700S is a stylish mouse, straddling the gap between wider palm grip mice and slimmer claw grip ones. There’s enough here to hold onto, but not enough to slow you down. All in all, it’s an effective shape that should suit most gamers. Testing In the right pane, adjust the sensitivity by moving the slider to the left or right. You can adjust Master and Custom mouse sensitivity.

NOTE: If you have the G700s plugged directly into your computer using the USB cable, you must remove the cable now to properly complete the reconnection procedure. If you’re after laptop buying advice, I’m your man. I’ve been reviewing PCs and technology products for more than a decade. I cut my teeth in PC Labs, spending several years with PCMag.com before writing for other outlets, among them LaptopMag.com and Tom’s Guide. While computers are my main focus, I’ve also written at length about topics ranging from fitness gear and appliances to TV and home theater equipment. If I’ve used it, I have opinions about it, whether somebody’s paying me to write them up or not. USB recharging cable is very heavy and stiff. What this translates to is that you lose a lot of freedom of motion when the cable is attached. Comparing how easy it is to manipulate the mouse with and without the cable attached, there's a huge difference - so much so, in fact, that I simply can't play most games with the cable attached. Especially in games where you need precise mouse control (shooters, RTS games, etc.), I find myself sorely missing the very nice braided flexible cable on my old G500. Full-speed USB performance whether wireless or wired: Executes commands up to eight times faster than a standard USB mouse

The side material is not as grippy as I would like but still does the job very well and I would assume it is hard to make a hydrophobic coating or rubber so not much they could have been to change that so once again, score is not lowered. The hydrophobic coating not only works, it works well. I wet my finger under the faucet (not with the way you think if you are perverted) and most of it slid right down the side but not all of it. I did get my finger really wet (again, not the way you think) so I am still impressed. The rest came right off with one wipe of a paper towel (on the mouse, not where you think if you are at it again)Windows only — try a different USB port. If it makes a difference, try updating the motherboard USB chipset driver. Logitech’s G700S is a strong hybrid mouse that seems well designed and solidly constructed. While there are some downsides to the wireless operation, including weight and day-long battery life, many users will appreciate the flexibility you get in exchange. For those that want a dual-use device for gaming and general use, the G700S seems a wise option. Pros A Unifying receiver looks like the image below, and it does not work with products that are not Unifying compatible.
