All in all, this was an engaging read. Not a Wyndham major work, but still one worth reading if you can accept the dated elements from another time. And it has now made me want to go and re-read some more Wyndham! That certainly rings true for this short novel: less drama, but more thought-provoking ideas than in most bestselling science fiction. I'll stop the blurb there, as I really think the less you know about this story and the genre it's in, the better your reading experience will be. This kid, Matthew speaking weirdly, is he talking himself, an invisible friend, or something else entirely?
