Description

When it comes to the best fragrances for women in 2022, the competition is steep. Despite that, Paco Rabanne delivers all the time, for women, men, and even unisex. Everyone can find their next go-to with Paco Rabanne, from warm and sweet to musky and subtle. His mother had worked for Balenciaga’s original establishment in San Sebastian, perhaps why he described sewing as “slavery”. She fled with her mother, the boy, his brother and two sisters and they were among refugees camped near Guernica when the town was destroyed by German bombing in 1937. They later made it to France, where Balenciaga also moved, and Paco was brought up in Britanny. His ambition to be an architect took him to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1951. The move to fashion, opening a studio, was in 1965. Its immediate top notes consist of wild strawberries and red currant. The marshmallow and liquorice scent softens it up a bit and pairs well with the middle notes of jasmine and star anise. Finally, you meet the heart base notes of cedar and vanilla, which complete the fragrance. He will remain an important source of inspiration for the Puig fashion and fragrance teams, who continuously work together to express Mr Paco Rabanne's radically modern codes."

A bit of history: Paco Rabanne was born Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo in 1934, in Pasaïa, in the Basque country of Spain. His mother, a head seamstress at the Spanish couture house of Balenciaga, fled the Spanish Civil War for France, in 1939. ‘Spanish at heart and French by adoption,’ his biography says, ‘Francisco Rabaneda would now be known as Paco Rabanne‘. After studying architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (which nurtured a deep love of the art world), Rabanne began designing costume jewellery for the greatest couture houses of the day: Nina Ricci, Pierre Cardin, Balenciaga, Courrèges, Givenchy and more…

Paco Rabanne Lady Million Empire

Olympéa Blossom is a powerful scent, but it isn't too much to throw its wearer off. The cashmere woods and vanilla will take over as the scent settles throughout the day, leaving you with a hypnotic creamy-woody scent. If you're looking for a regal and sophisticated vibe, Olympéa Blossom is a must-try. Paco Rabanne Olympéa Legend The Lady Million Fabulous Eau de Parfum is the personification of charisma. This sweet and floral scent is addicting and will keep you, and everyone around you hooked. THE BEGINNING OF A SAGA OF SUCCESS . With this launch Paco Rabanne burst into the perfume sector. A creation that opened the doors for him, creating a great empire, which today is one of the most recognized and acclaimed in perfumery. Oakmoss, Musk, Vetiver, Amber, and Sandalwood create your base notes. Yet they work so well throughout how the fragrance settles that you could mistake them for mid-notes. What's impressive is that none of these notes clash but instead find a beautiful harmony. This is when Calandre’s beauty really unfolds. It is spare and nicely balanced, but not banal. Like most great perfumes, it has a definite signature, and once you’ve smelled it, you’ll always be able to identify it. Calandre reminds me more of the simplicity and modern confidence of Geoffrey Beene's vintage fashion than of Paco Rabanne’s late 1960s production of fringe, lamé, and costumes that might have made the trip in Barbarella's space ship.

Tributes have poured in from fans of the late designer, with one writing: ‘RIP Paco Rabanne, who I believe to be one of the most contemporary designers from his time til today.’ It has a remarkable gentleness and its own aroma that sets it apart. This makes Lady Million a fantastic option for your daily driver. In addition, it's versatile and designed for the practical woman, so you can easily wear this to work or dinner. There's a touch of patchouli in there, too! Lady Million generally gives you a sort of floral sweetness that isn't too strong or heavy. Instead, it balances its notes to provide a great fragrance. Born in 1934 in the Basque Country, he escaped the Spanish Civil War by fleeing to France at the age of five alongside his mother, a head seamstress at Balenciaga. Liberally applied, Calandre lasts hours on my skin, but it’s quiet after the first hour. I also have an old bottle of Eau de Calandre that’s brighter up top and thinner in the middle than the regular Calandre, but still wonderful. The bottle I’m sampling from for this review is probably from the 1980s, and isn’t labeled for its concentration.

Baroness Helen Bachofen von Echt wore the dress to a party in New York where she danced with Frank Sinatra, according to the V&A museum. With this perfume, the Spanish designer made himself known in the world of selective perfumery. An elegant and sophisticated composition, just like its haute couture designs. A classic and formal scent, perfect for any time of day, paying a clear tribute to Rabanne's passion for the female gender. That the family were from Catalonia had mattered to Rabanne. He was a Basque, born Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo, in Pasaia, near San Sebastian, the son of a colonel in the Republican army executed by Francoists during the Spanish civil war. Pure XS for Her is definitely a sensual perfume and feels like butter on your skin, creating that signature intimate vibe that women love about this fragrance. Pure XS for Her was designed to feel orgasmic, so if you're looking for something extra for date night, this is it! Paco Rabanne Olympéa Blossom He added: "Who but Paco Rabanne could imagine a fragrance called Calandre - the word means automobile grille you know - and turn it into an icon of modern femininity?

YOUR STYLE ... A great combination of floral notes such as lily, jasmine, rose, geranium and hyacinth star in the wake of this perfume. Along with them, we also highlight citrus aromas and warmer sparkles such as amber and musk, thus giving rise to a perfectly balanced fragrance. For his debut couture collection in 1966, he presented "12 unwearable dresses in contemporary materials". Paco Rabanne Ultrared takes us through a field of ripe strawberries and is reminiscent of the first flowers of spring. Paco Rabanne Ultrared is perfect for women with festive hearts and makes for a great day-to-day fragrance. This is a wonderfully light fragrance that's perfect for any time of the day. We are grateful to Monsieur Rabanne for establishing our avant-garde heritage and defining a future of limitless possibilities." 'Radical, rebellious spirit' Paco Rabanne Olympéa Legend is an ode to tan lines and late sunsets, but the sweetness of the plum top note makes it a great spring fragrance, too! Olympéa Legend smells like a summer dream, so don't miss out on this fragrance when you plan your next beach trip. Paco Rabanne Ultrared
