Description

The exact speeds you get with the Three 4G+ Hub can vary quite a lot, depending on where you live, where you have the router positioned, and a number of other factors. Given the speeds on offer from the Three 4G Hub, and how easy this device is to set up, we think this router is very good value for money. Although you can’t predict exactly what speeds you’ll get with the 4G Hub, Three has a good return policy, allowing you to test the device before committing to a 24 month contract. The 4G Plus Hub is very similar to Three’s regular 4G Hub, which we have also reviewed. We’ll explain the exact differences a bit below. How the 4G Plus Hub is sold

While both of these devices are essentially white boxes, they do have a fair few visual differences. The standard Three 4G Hub looks very square, with dimensions of 18 x 17 x 3cm, while the Three 4G Plus Hub is much wider, at 27.7 x 18.1 x 7cm, so it’s a bigger device in every dimension.Fairly easy to set up as there’s no need to align your antenna, or to know where the nearest mast is. If you’re using an external outdoor antenna, it will normally come bundled with a cable which plugs in to your router. It’s best to choose the shortest possible length of cable for your installation. A cable that’s longer than necessary will cause a reduction in signal strength.

Most 4G and 5G home broadband routers will allow you to connect an external antenna. However, this functionality isn’t available on some devices like the Huawei AI Cube B900. It also isn’t possible to use an antenna with most Mi-Fi devices like the Huawei E5573bs-322.The 4G Plus Hub has a slightly better Wi-Fi signal, in our experience. We found that the network was more consistent over long distances. One of the great things about such gadgets is that you don’t need a landline or an engineer visit, and they’re typically – as in these cases – little more complex than just plugging them in and switching them on.
