Description

A Torch Against the Night is simply the superior YA Fantasy of the year. Hands down, there's no competition. I hope there's more part of Keenan (get ready to be impressed with this character while reading this book) in the next books. This time around, Laia makes a lot of mistakes. Disastrous one after disastrous one. But I liked that instead of drowning in guilt, she turned a critical eye against her actions and learned from them. Betrayals change her. New allies shape her. And love strengthens her.

A Torch Against The Night Ebook receives praise and was criticized as well. Apart from the praises and criticism, this book is considered to be one of the major works of Saba Tahir.Avitas Harper is a newly introduced character. He’s the torturer of Helene and works for the Commandant. After that, he stays by Helene’s side on her mission to keep an eye on her and her work. But who he is truly loyal to seems a question not so easily answered…

Elias and Laia’s goal is still to free Laia’s brother, Darin, as they’ve gathered the information that he is in Kauf Prison. The Warden is a new bad guy but immensely intriguing in his sadistic ways. The Nightbringer establishes himself as a layered, complex character that is not as straightforward as one might think. Honestly, I do not know what to further expect from him because his involvement in this book is jaw-dropping. Sabaa Tahir ’s young adult fantasy novel, A Torch Against the Night (2016), is the second book in her bestselling trilogy, An Ember in the Ashes. It follows two young fugitives fleeing for their lives in a corrupt empire; their only hope of survival is by freeing a certain inmate from their kingdom’s most secure prison. Tahir, a New York Times bestselling author, grew up in her family’s 18-room motel in California’s Mojave Desert. As a child, she adored fantasy novels, and she always hoped to write one of her own. Before writing full-time, she worked nights as a newspaper editor. You are my temple,” I murmur as I kneel beside her. “You are my priest. You are my prayer. You are my release.” Is it just me or is this review very confused? You see, it took me 4 days to write it. I don't know, I feel like I'm confusing everything, maybe it's just me, but I always find it hard to explain myself when I talk about something so good.

The world building in this book was so much better than book 1, probably because you see more of it. The characters got a lot more fleshed out, especially Helene, and I'm so glad they did. Izzi and Keenan have been tailing Elias and Laia. They eventually catch up to them and tell them that they are going to help them break into Kauf Prison to save Darin. Izzi notices Elias is unwell, but Laia denies it because she had promised Elias to keep his condition a secret. While the four of them are traveling to Nur, a sandstorm hits, injuring Izzi's remaining eye. When she is in the caravan traveling to Kauf, Gibran Ara-Nur develops a crush on her. However, when the caravan is searched for Scholars, Izzi is found and killed. Elias helps her spirit cross over into the afterlife. But you, Helene Aquilla, are no swift-burning spark. You are a torch against the night - if you dare to let yourself burn.”
