British born and bred, I met my wife from Poland in the UK in 1985 and were subsequently married in London. My profession, at this time, was buying and selling in the timber trade. In addition, some years later, we had a son, Edward, who now runs the business with me.We offer both warm and light reclaimed terracotta tiles that not only speak of ancient worlds both east and west but have also been used in creating contrasting interiors within contemporary spaces. The tiles are often used as a base colour within a space ready for additional accents and tones to accentuate the floor. Whether you’ve just moved into a new house or are looking to replace your outdoor terrace flooring, or working on a commercial project our reclaimed quarry tiles are suitable for all spaces. Often we see french limestone pavers and large slabs being used for both indoor and outdoor use. However, there are number of different options available. Limestone can be cut into different shapes and sizes. Shape : Terracotta tiles cut by machine are absolutely identical. Buy them, and you won’t encounter any problems during installation. Handmade tiles can be made of irregular shapes that are much more appealing but, unfortunately, can be more problematic to install. Out of these four, Lubelska provides a tumbled surface. Our want is to provide a antique french limestone floor with patina and texture. Although, we have the ability to provide all 4 finishes if required. French limestone sizes Quarried in the Vienne region of France, Chauvigny limestone is characterized by its distinctive beige or light grey color with occasional fossil inclusions. It has a slightly rough texture and is often used in interior and exterior applications, including flooring, wall cladding, and architectural elements. On the other hand, each handmade terracotta tile is unique as it is handmade with great precision. Although the process is similar, it is the work of art you would be paying for.

It is a good idea to dry lay a couple of square metres with your builder, prior to the actual laying. This gives one the opportunity to discuss any issues prior to the commencement of the actual task at hand. – USE A QUALITY FLOOR SEALER As we all know, there are builders and then there are builders. It is very worthwhile asking your builder whether he has ever worked with reclaimed flooring before. Modern, engineered products are just that. They have tolerances that are negligible and can be laid with very little thought to the product. When choosing your french limestone flooring. There are several options with many different different finishes and sizes available. Most quarries have the ability to create anything from a very smooth surface to a more aged, rustic finish. The antique stone floor gives the impression that it has been down for centuries. Tumbled – This has been put through a tumbler which provides an aged, worn feel with rounded off edges. Often the shells of the limestone come through with a rustic patina. Below are french limestone tiles used in a square. these are cut at 150 x 150mm, tumbled with a mix of tones and patina between each tile.

Oil and Silicone based sealers will seal the floor thoroughly and not allow your floor to breathe. By their nature, they will darken the floor and leave a shine. Polished – again, flat surface, but this has been polished to provide a reflective surface (sharp edges). Our handmade terracotta tiles emanate from Spain, not far inland from the city of Valencia amongst the orange groves for which that area is famous. The production is third generation and little has changed over time apart that the clay is now air-dried under polytunnels in case of storms. Water-based sealers work in a completely different way. Firstly and unlike their counterparts, they are eco-friendly. They will stop stains from marking the floor by reducing the pore size and stop liquids from penetrating but they will allow vapour to pass through. This permits the floor to breathe and any moisture that was in the adhesive to escape. We try to offer limestone flooring in both large format, squares, hexagon and rectangular. Although we have the capability to offer this in a number of different sizes and shapes. However, there are many very similar alternatives to this type of stone availaable, which we go over below. Bourgogne Limestone Grout colour is very much an aesthetic choice and we all have different ideas about what we like. However, it is worth remembering that reclaimed tiles will often have a slightly deeper and wider joint and therefore discussing with your merchant about using a grout that doesn’t shrink too much when it dries is worthwhile. Often a limestone with much deeper tones and variable colours ranging from browns and dark yellows to burnt oranges. This diverse natural stone flooring gives a feel of a floor that has been down for centuries. Chauvigny Limestone
