Euphoria smells like a time when the height of adventure was wandering through Saks on an idle Saturday, touching everything, buying absolutely nothing. We're gonna get in trouble, because we don't belong here, but someday we will. It smells like a dated teenage fantasy of wealth, one that was still tied to an image of respectability. It smells like trusting that rich people got everything they had through hard work, mere years before that facade was permanently damaged. Your original plan for 2008 was to be miles away from this rinky-dink town, having the time of your life at the exact fancy college of your choice. You'd graduate with honors and immediately get a job in fashion, PR, or interior decorating. You'd sip cosmos out of martini glasses in ritzy downtown bars to the Verve Remixed version of "Whatever Lola Wants." A nice suit would tell you exactly which men to pursue, not which men to avoid. You were gonna slip right into that life the magazines promised you with no trouble. When I sprayed myself that's all I smelled for a while. It's not bad, it has a relaxing effect when I smell it. I do think it could be headache inducing so I only do less than 2 sprays. This spray lasts a long time on clothes. The next day I still smelled that medicinal smell but it was accompanied by a powdery drydown. For having violet in its notes I am very surprised it does not smell awfully powdery so that's a plus. I do enjoy violet but many fragrances with violet end up with a dusty powder element to them. It has small longevity, and NO sillage to speak of. I spray gallons of this on myself, and my husband can't smell it unless I shove my wrist under his nose. Granted, it lasts better on clothes. On clothes (particularly with copious amounts across the chest and collar), I can occasionally get whiffs of this. Euphoria Eau de Parfum dispels all the fallacy about Calvin Klein's fragrances and their supposedly low overall performance. Right now, I can say that this fragrance lasts more than eight hours on my skin and, as far as I remember, it has always been like this. Euphoria embodies modern sensuality and provocative freedom. It accentuates feminine mystery and seduction.

I never owned Euphoria but I remember it well. A friend wore it at school, and I think my mom received it as a gift once - it is a noughties time capsule. I remember it as being a very strong, syrupy floriental but it has certainly been reformulated. I remember my friend marvelling at how it lingered for days on her school jumper. This version could never. Here, the ghost of the original is present, but it is much weaker, and behaves more like an aquatic floral-fruity with a synthetic amber base. I don't dislike Euphoria but I don't like Euphoria either... it's not "euphoric" to me, so to speak.On my skin, the dry down renounced the comfortable creaminess of before and gained more artificial and sweet nuances. Euphoria Eau de Toilette is not only a floral-fruity fragrance, but it also has a gourmand side that lost me a bit in the process. Euphoria Eau de Toilette (2023) exchanges the previous opening, with a more lactonic effect, for a fruitier and sour one, full of raspberry and with an air of contemporary innocence, which has appeared with some frequency in the latest female releases.

As it begins to dry down, a synthetic woody-amber accord emerges, subtle yet grey, weighing down the floral-fruitiness somewhat. It is like the base of many modern designer scents, an accord I associate with masculines - Sauvage-like, I guess. It is inoffensive enough however to not ruin the scent, mediocre as it is. However, in a matter of minutes, the floral bouquet grows on the skin and, during the first hour of application, Euphoria Eau de Toilette (2023) really proves to be very close to the Eau de Parfum version, but always with a very evident raspberry aura.

When I first smelled Euphoria Intense I had a flash of nostalgia to the time the original was first issued. Make of that what you will, I won't speculate about reformulations of a scent I never owned.
