Spending twenty-three years journeying through the universe, Captain Marvel learned of the Decimation through a distress call sent out by Fury and joined the Avengers in an attempt to confront Thanos and reverse the damage done, managing to also rescue Tony Stark and Nebula from deep space along the way. However, despite their first attempt at finding the Infinity Stones failing, Captain Marvel returned to Earth in 2023 when the Avengers had just succeeded with their second attempt to reverse the Decimation and assisted them in the fight against Thanos and his army of Chitauri and Outriders. Eventually, the combined efforts of Captain Marvel and all the heroes of Earth triumphed over Thanos' forces, although Iron Man sacrificed his life, Danvers attended his funeral before going off-world.

Carol's pet, a cat-like alien (Flerken) named Chewie, is named after Chewbacca from the Star Wars franchise. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chewie is renamed Goose, a reference to the movie Top Gun. Alongside all of the other Marvel sets due out in the summer lineup above, we’re also getting some additional LEGO Super Hero creations. These should be launching alongside everything we covered above in August, aside from the Advent Calendar which will see a September release. Aimed at kids aged eight and up, this Lego Marvel The Hoopty set is solidly in playset territory, and it'll make an excellent Christmas gift for a young fan of The Marvels – or anyone who loves a fantastical Lego spaceship. Alternative models: For adults looking for a more appropriate Marvel build, Thor's Hammer is worth a look. It's a little pricier, but Lego Marvel sets don't come much better than the Sanctum Sanctorum.
