The book is written brilliantly and the introduction was quite emotional about the death of Grace’s mum, but there was many memories that food can bring back to you. Don't be put off by thinking that this is a food book written by a professional food critic and therefore probably features foods that you've probably never heard of or tasted because it doesn't, instead its a loving prose about the joys of cheddar, Dairylea, white bread etc.And just like a young child who hasn’t learned a sense of self-restraint we’re reaching for the Ferrero Rocher with restaurant critic Grace Dent.

Because, of course, to talk about comfort food is so often to talk about childhood, home, family and formative experiences. They discuss the joys of going feral when home alone, Marian’s childhood trips to stare at empty runways and how baking helped her through serious depression.I don't like cooking, and i am extremely fussy about food, so i was really unsure if i would enjoy this one, but i really did!
