About this deal

The light cavalry units consisted of fourteen regiments of Light Dragoons, which had been formed during the eighteenth century to carry out the roles of scouting and patrolling. The trousers had button down belt loops when carrying equipment was not worn, a uniform belt was worn in these loops.

This is just superb, the suit comprises our CT029 Single Breasted Frock Coat with our CT034 Barathea Virginian Vest plus a pair of CT040B Barathea Trousers, all made from the very finest black Barathea wool and finished off with a satin lining to the inside of the coat and the back of the vest, the buttons are all cloth covered. It was made from cotton or poly-cotton DPM of a lighter weight than pre-Combat Soldier 95 No 8 Dress. dress consists of a dark blue stand collared tunic, matching trousers, and peaked cap, caubeen, or beret depending on the regiment. Coloured trousers are worn by some units: crimson by the King's Royal Hussars, dark green by the Royal Irish Regiment and Royal Dragoon Guards. The colours were carried into battle for identification, and as a rallying point, in the care of sergeants or ensigns.dress can include collar badges (sometimes with coloured cloth backings), coloured lanyards worn on the shoulder, arm badges, and unusually for the Educational and Training Services Branch blue socks are worn. There was no formal command structure, and a variety of government departments controlled army units depending on where they were stationed; troops in Ireland were controlled by the Irish establishment, rather than the War Office in London, for example.

This is the Waterloo period Coattee for the 60th Rifles, this one was made for The Royal Greenjackets Regimental Museum but we also make many of these for re-enactors and collectors all over the world. The line formation was the most favoured, as it offered the maximum firepower, about 1000 to 1500 bullets per minute. Each regiment and corps of the British Army has an allotted facing colour according to Part 14 Section 2 Annex F of the British Army dress regulations. As a rule, the same basic design and colour of uniform is worn by all ranks of the same regiment (albeit often with increased embellishment for higher ranks). The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers wears a feather hackle on the beret, they are now the only infantry regiment to wear the navy blue beret.

Period 'Housewife' includes period pack of needles and some buttons, hand made in period cloths, no two the same. We make these from a period appropriate heavy duty cotton duck, now available in white or natural/off white colour.

Originally, the white trousers were cut as overalls, designed to be worn to protect the expensive breeches and gaiters worn by the rank and file, although on campaign, they were often worn by themselves; a practice which was later permitted except on parade. Their introduction allowed the rapid differentiation of sergeants and corporals from private soldiers. The first major engagement involving the British army during the Revolutionary period was the Third Anglo-Mysore War, between Kingdom of Mysore supported by France and led by Tipu Sultan, and the British East India Company supported by its local allies. The fur is bought in especially for this item it is a long, very fine goat hair that is very similiar to the original fur used (frankly it is as close as you can get nowadays).
