In weak parallel, the last few years have taught us that our recent ‘plague’, too, is no respecter of persons nor health status.

An art historical set in Renaissance Venice was just the enticement I needed to pick up A Color Storm. Together Giorgione and Titian were central figures in the Venetian school of painting, which is characterised by its distinctive use of light and colour.W swojej najnowszej powieści Damian Dibben czyni te słowa mostem do magicznego świata, gdzie kolory ożywają, prowadząc czytelnika w podróż przez czas i przestrzeń.

You are never in doubt of Zorzo’s best intentions – he has been written very strongly as a character and for me the most fascinating and absorbing moments are when he is talking to his apprentices abut his work and what he expects them to do.However, he soon hears about a legend, the Prince Orient, which is supposedly a colour like no other, found in a mine owned by a wealthy businessman. My only gripe would be the slow pacing, there was a lot of build up at the beginning and that could have been shortened and my interest held further. Celebrity attendees at the launch included actresses Natascha McElhone ( The Truman Show, Solaris, Ronin) , Anna Chancellor ( Spooks, Four Weddings and a Funeral) Golda Rosheuvel ( Bridgerton), Indira Varma ( Obi Wan and Game of Thrones), Lyndsey Marshal ( Being Human), Charlotte Randle ( A Thousand Kisses Deep) and Sarah Coomes ( Offending Angels), actors Hugh Sachs ( Bridgerton) and Daniel Cerqueira ( The Woman in Black, Judy), Nikki Yates (founder of Wild at Heart luxury florist), event producer Sara Blonstein, stylist Nicky Yates and documentary maker Moray Mclaren. The main reason I'm rating this book higher than I initially wanted to is because it taught me a lot about art from this era and inspired me to want to seek these out next time I visit a museum.

Damian Dibben's novels have been translated into twenty-seven languages and published in over forty countries. Written by an author who has a genuine love for creativity and a deep understanding of what it means to be alive, his characters are richly painted and seductive. We have all heard about the artistic titans of the Italian Renaissance Figures like da Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo are household names and their legacy in the history of art is uncontested.

It gives a plausible account for his early death, and describes the politics and scheming of Venetian life and art through well-drawn and likeable characters. It was Giorgione’s innovative use of colour, texture and subject matter which his pupil Titian developed further, going on to be remembered as Venice’s most celebrated painter.
