This running tally is in contrast to the physical game where VP are not tallied until the very end of the game leaving you in suspense as to how well you and your opponents are doing however the inclusion of a toggle option to provide this information throughout will suit some players and can be a big aid for beginners learning how to play and score well. The authentic feel of the board game, along with the intuitive UI makes it the perfect addition to your gaming collection! If another player uses a card that you don’t have, you’ll want to have your Diplomat handy, for example. It started giving me a headache, and, being my first play, I wasn’t even trying that hard to optimize my actions.

And for a game that plays up to six players, it’s amazing that you can get a full game completed in just 90 minutes if everyone knows how to play. I have only played each map 1-3 times, and I haven’t found them to be as different as in Power Grid. Without that small bit of influence over the random setup the game would drag a lot in the beginning.Whilst you will of course, be working to overhaul your opponents in the race for glory, Concordia is a peaceful game. The only issue I’ve run into is occasionally having to manually refresh the game to see that it is now my turn. Give me a beautiful, intricate map that’s also clear to read, and I’ll probably get lost staring into its starry blue eyes and promising it the world. In the game, colonists are sent out from Rome to settle down in cities which produce bricks, food, tools, wine, and cloth. During the show, we managed to play Kanban, Railroad Revolution, and Navegador in the mornings before the exhibit hall even opened.

The rulebook has a slightly older version of the rule, which was modified last-minute to make the Colonist more useful early in the game, when you do not have that many colonists on the board. Concordia comes with a couple maps to play on, and somewhat famously has about 10 official variant maps (probably more by the time this review is published). The developers seem to be invested in adding more maps and supporting tournaments through their Discord server so if you want to get your Concordia fix without having to have people over to your house, this is a great alternative. And a map that is designed for 2-3 players might be best suited for those play counts, but will also be a wildly different ride at, say, five players.
