About this deal

Here to Slay is a competitive role-playing fantasy strategy card game that's all about assembling a party of Heroes and slaying monsters (and sometimes sabotaging your friends too) from the creators of Unstable Unicorns. Every turn feels like it has several interesting decision points, which is really nice in a game aimed at a more casual market. Each monster has a difficulty score to beat if you want to defeat them, and a lower score that if you fail to exceed will lead to you actually losing something.

You’ll often find that as soon as one game finishes, you’ll be straight back in for round two to get your own back on those backstabbing friends! But with the Warrior and Druid expansion cards, trying to collect 8 heroes was a much better challenge and enabled a fairer contest. Turns proceed and players scrap over each other’s sets before eventually, someone hits one of the win conditions and ends the game. There was even a card that was if you roll a 6 or higher you get a +5 to ALL your rolls if you discard ANY 1 card. Combine Warriors and Druids with Berserker and Necromancer to fully immerse yourself in a cut-throat, adorable game. Whether you enjoy fighters, bards, wizards, or thieves, you'll find a party leader that's right for your play style - but choose wisely, because you only get one party leader for the whole game!

The last card which can prevent a player from winning is the challenge card, this is played at any point to challenge an action from another player when played both players roll a dice to determine if the card is played or not, often with the challenger having a roll advantage. Though hugely popular – in thanks due to its superb visual design and excellent production values – I’ve never really been a fan of TeeTurtle’s Unstable Unicorns. We’re still perhaps a little short of challenge cards, and magic cards are still quite nonconsequential, but it’s a much more balanced game. There are also magic cards and upgrade cards that are usually highly interactive, as interfering with other players is a core part of the game.

In this festive Here to Slay expansion pack, you’ll find new card types, fun holiday artwork, and a brand new win condition! The game also includes items you can equip to your heroes, 1v1 challenge cards, and roll modifiers to tip the odds in your favour. Fighting monsters, playing item cards to help, and ultimately, betraying your friends to climb to the top and claim victory. You choose a party leader – who imparts a pretty powerful bonus throughout the duration of the game – deal a hand of cards to everyone, turn over three big monsters and off you go. My wife and I regularly play this game with just the two of us, at which point it’s actually entirely possible for someone to draw four or five different classes off the bat and for the other player not to draw the interactive cards needed to slow them down. The base game provides 6 Party leaders, but with an additional 2 Party Leaders provided in this expansion, this raises the maximum to 8 players in a game. Whether you enjoy fighters, bards, wizards, or thieves, you’ll find a party leader that’s right for your play style – but choose wisely, because you only get one party leader for the whole game! This means that our wonderful team hand-measured every t-shirt size to ensure that we are giving you the precise measurements of the shirts as we received them from our designers and manufacturers.
