About this deal

Constructed from robust polycarbonate material and equipped with versatile features like flexible carry handles, multiple interior pockets, and a zip closure, it provides an excellent blend of functionality. My suitcase arrived wrapped in a sleek, grey dust bag which was such a nice touch – and my first impression upon lifting it out of the box was how lightweight it was. In my opinion, when you’ve got large, heavy suitcases they absolutely have to have four spinner wheels that will easily twist in all directions.

To try out my new Antler luggage in real life, I took the medium-sized case with me on a week-long trip to Edinburgh and East Lothian in Scotland. Each case comes with instructions for how to set your own code and operate the locks – or there are videos online as well. Also, with a walk from the car port to our Airbnb in Puglia, I'd need a suitcase that's capable of taking on a large chunk of cobbled roads. Our Clifton medium suitcase comes with a dust bag, and each size nests inside the next one up for easy storage. My only disappointment was the fact that the black polycarbonate shell scratched fairly easily, so after being thrown around on luggage carousels, my case was subject to a few white marks.

To help with pulling and steering, each case also has a handle which smoothly pops in and out at the push of a button. So while one adult deals with the luggage, the second adult can deal with the car seats and the kids! I’ve used them for flights, trains and road trips so they’ve done a bit of everything this summer and I’ve really enjoyed using them. The Travel Hack started in 2009 to document my two-year backpacking adventure around Asia and Australia.

The verdict: "I am *such* a fan of Antler luggage, not least because the act of having a cabin suitcase which matches your hold suitcase and weekend bag is such a luxury. And of course if you have a soft case or a soft bag, it’s easier for bedbugs to take up residence in the soft parts or the seams of the case, and then travel home with you. On both suitcases, the lifetime warranty beats the offer of industry competitors like Samsonite and Tumi, who offer ten and five year warranty periods respectively. The Antler Clifton cabin suitcase is a surprisingly roomy little number, ideal for packing light on short trips. Having worked as a travel blogger for over 11 years now, and travelled to almost 60 different countries, I think it’s safe to say that at this stage, I’m pretty well travelled!

The verdict: "Having dabbled with the Antler Clifton medium case, I had high hopes for the brand's higher-spec Stamford range. These cases are about as lightweight as possible for hard shell luggage – so they don’t take up too much of that precious luggage allowance. With a design that packs a punch, this polycarbonate suitcase is strong, light on its feet and wheels like a dream. The dimensions for the smallest of the Clifton cases in this set is 20 x 40 x 55cm, which is within the carry-on baggage allowance for most airlines.

The handle also has a ‘twist grip’, which means that the grip part where you hold it rotates as you tilt up or down, making it more comfortable and easier to pull. Inside was a Russian doll of three suitcases, each one neatly stacked inside the next and protected with a white cloth bag. The Stamford cabin bag was headed to Barcelona for a weekend break, the medium-size Stamford was headed for five days in Barbados, and the largest Stamford – the 121 litre – was off for a week in Puglia. At 20x40x55cm, it falls well within the cabin baggage size allowance for most airlines – even Ryanair*. The Clifton luggage range from Antler is a set of hard-shell 4-wheeled suitcases that come in three sizes (see below).Thankfully, the spinner wheels exceeded my expectations, traversing from pavement to road to cobblestone without a struggle. Stamford wheels were developed in collaboration with the Japanese automobile experts at Mitsubishi, offering enhanced control and a muted tread, thanks to their Lisof tyre fabric. If you’re going away for longer (or, like me, you’re simply more of a hold-luggage kinda gal), the medium and large suitcases are PERFECT. If you prefer a soft case rather than hard-shelled, checked out my Antler Bamburgh wheeled holdall review instead.
