About this deal

A wonderful introduction for young readers to delights of the Tower, Buckingham Palace and a host of London landmarks. It is not included in promotions available to our main range products, as stated in our terms of service.

When Katie and her cousin Jack visit London with Grandma, they don’t think there’s much to see and do.

James is also a presenter of family classical concerts, and takes part in many unique events at music festivals all over the country. Registered office address: Unit 34 Vulcan House Business Centre, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EF.

Ella Bella Ballerina and The Sleeping Beauty' was James' first title featuring the adorable Ella Bella, and has been illustrated using a new delightfully retro art style. When Katie and her cousin Jack visit London with Grandma, they don't think there's much to see and do. The illustrations aren't that thrilling and I'm not crazy about the stupid lion coming to life, but the whirlwind tour is nice. This picture book mingles fantasy with information most successfully… a lively introduction to some of the main London sights within the context of an appealing story…The text keeps up the pace of the story and includes a lot of convincing dialogue. This would be a lovely way to introduce any child to London, perhaps as a way to calm nerves before a first trip or as a way to reminisce after visiting. James’s Katie picture book series has been making art an adventure for children worldwide for 25 years. I'd like to think that if I had visited London as a child, I would have read this book beforehand to get myself hyped up!

He has published over 60 books, and illustrated and written for many other colleagues including Philippa Pearce, Martin Waddell and Jackie Morris. My only criticism would be that London looks a lot cleaner in this story than how I remember it when I lived there! We were in Trafalgar Square recently and he was thrilled to see the lions on their plinths, just like the lion in the book, and he started talking about all the places the lion visits, so the book clearly caught his imagination. It depicts all the famous London sights such as Trafalgar Square, St Paul's' Cathedral,The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament.ISBN: 9781408331934 Author: Mayhew, James Publisher: Orchard Books Publication Date: 1st May 2014 Imprint: Orchard Books Cover: Paperback Dewey: 823.
