Generally, I knew what was going to happen, but I honestly wasn't prepared to feel so much or to cry as much as I did.The narrative isn't as intimate character-wise as Sky's account (and oddly, Holder still feels like he's telling his grief in many points here instead of coming to terms with it gradually. You approach with trepidation because you know it’s going to crush you, and even though you think you’re mentally prepared for it the utter devastation and heartbreak you will feel for Holder at this poignant moment will knock you for six.

Worse, there's one scene where it seems like he's okay with a character making a homophobic statement to him - I didn't understand that at all. Not until you read Losing Hope can a reader sit back and fully absorb the beauty of the full puzzle. He always knew that something was off with her as she was spending nights crying in his arms but he did his best to be there and strong for her.In Losing Hope , Holder reveals the way in which the events of Sky’s youth affected him and his family, leading him to seek his own redemption in the act of saving her.
