About this deal

The dragonlords are overthrown and a new regime takes over who dismantles the feudal system and institutes a new system of government with the goal of making things more fair and equal. Oh, and then there are some rebels in the home country, who are fighting for the vague equality I mentioned at the start of this post. Who’s to say that the new regime won’t become like the old, when those in power forget their promises?

As someone who has read quite a bit of young adult fantasy, this one stands out from the rest as reading much more mature than others I’ve read recently! i genuinely have no words, this was ya fantasy excellence at its finest that left me breathless and riveted while reading.Told from multiple points of view this fantasy is one of young dragonriders dealing with a world with plenty of political intrigue with a small bit of romance added into the mix. And then the ultimate message is if you are sufficiently pure of heart, you can totally make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. First line from my Booklist review: “What happens after a revolution, when the fire and fury of the righteous must turn from violence to governance?

Fireborne's world is a brutal one, and one of the harshest and most realistic portrayals of a complex government I have seen in a book. Annie and Lee were just children when a brutal revolution changed their world, giving everyone--even the lowborn--a chance to test into the governing class of dragonriders. i buddy read this with my friend and they said “the battles aren’t engaging enough or action packed” which i strongly agree because until the 34% mark, most of the scenes were over so quickly and even after the 50% mark, majority of them were fade-to-black, which was disappointing. Our two protagonists, Lee and Annie, grew up in an orphanage together and are now two of the lead candidates competing to be Firstriders in the dragon corps.
