About this deal

When I was younger, I read all of Jacqueline's books and all books of this series were my favorite ones!

As I got older though, I didn't appreciate her books as much but I still love the creativity and thought behind each one of them and I will remember them as a big part of my childhood. It would have been great to see some development where she finally stood up for herself and moved on. perfectly capturing the raw emotions her characters endure through their daily lives, while telling a darn good story that will leave readers asking, "How soon can we read the next one? Of course, Ellie would normally turn to her friends at a time like this but Nadine and Magda are getting frustrated with her. The book focuses on Ellie and Russell's completely toxic relationship which is presented as really romantic and the ending is contrived and too obvious (Nadine's internet boyfriend turns out to be a 50 year old man, shock horror) and Ellie gets back with a man that constantly puts her down, objectifies her, and cheated on her with her best friend(!my favorite characters are Nadine because I like her goth style ,and Magda because she is fun and loveable . The TV show did this a lot better by working the competition into Ellie's work experience with an artist and leaving her mum's character out of it. When she gets there, it's a soft porn theater and the "boy" is an "old man" so luckly the other 2 girls had been spying on her and followed and they save her from the "pervy creeper". These were my least favourite Jacqueline Wilson books when I was younger (why would you want to be a teenager talking about boys all the time when you could be the Suitcase Kid, cracking jokes at the expense of her horrible stepdad or Tracy Beaker, absolutely dominating the Dumping Ground? Jacqueline Wilson's Girls In Tears is the fourth instalment in her successful Girls series, following the lives and loves of three buddies--Ellie, Magda and Nadine--each very different but each bound by an absolute bond of friendship.

Double Act won the prestigious Smarties Medal and the Children’s Book Award as well as being highly commended for the Carnegie Medal.Make sure you read this book before you go into girls in love and all of the other series as you will get very confused other wise. While she says "no" there's no exploration of this or reward/punishment - they attend a party where she drinks straight vodka to teach them all a lesson and gets trashed. Jacqueline Wilson, award-winning queen of tell-it-as-it-is children's literature, hits the teen spot with this straightforward, highly enjoyable novel, adding further flesh to the bones of the characters her loyal readers will have come to love in Girls In Love , Girls Under Pressure and Girls Out Late .

It was mentioned several times that Russell wanted to go further than Ellie, but this wasn't explored in much detail. it deals with lots of common issues many girls face in their teen years, and handles them in a funny, loving, heartwarming manner. I did accidentally read a review that spoiled the whole book for me, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I think I would have. Magda`s lost her pet and is desperately upset (though the others didn`t even know she still had a hamster! He tries to pressure Ellie into having sex before she’s ready, he tries to emotionally blackmail her into doing what he wants, he shames her, he steals her idea, speaks down to her, and kisses one of her best friends.

The characters in this book are great though when Ellie gets cross she can sometimes act like it is the end of the world . Needless to say, reading these books when you're older opens up a new perspective of the world as it highlights its flaws subtly.
