About this deal

i read somewhere that when this song came out it was so popular and sweet that even little kids were singing it in the playground cos its like a nursery rhyme. Bear and squirrel might seem an odd partnership: one can fit in the palm of another but we trust to the fact that it just works. As the song expands out to include the moon landing and the Vietnam War, it seems to become a commentary on blind allegiance to anyone or anything - the notion that certain actions go "past right and wrong", and the danger involved in such a point of view. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.

I wound up making everybody leave except for Lou, ’cause he was playing guitar with me, and the engineer. If this point wasn't clear enough early in the song, the later use of "hang" and "swing" drive it home. The relationship between Bear and Squirrel makes me think of a sibling relationship where sometimes having a shadow is overwhelming but actually spending time together is the best thing!Prasadam-Halls' jovial, welcoming rhythm and rhyme bounces us through this picturebook whilst Smalls' debut work is miminal in colour and tone yet rich in expression and comedic timing. I am still waiting for a picture book where two very good friends can have boundaries, spend time apart, and still have a joyful relationship whenever they are together. Electricity comes from other planets”, “Satellite’s gone way up to mars”, “Some people go into the stratosphere” it was a theme with Lou but universally it’s a poetic theme too and from Lou’s relationship with Delmore S through to his later lionisation by the absurdist playwright Vaclav Havel the more opaque poetic approach was one of Lou’s creative constants. Praise for I'm Sticking with You: 'A wonderful, warm bear-hug of a story with sumptuous illustrations.

The work has varied from working on Disney features to designing and directing shorts, TV series, and commercials. We see from the very beginning that the bear and squirrel have very opposite personalities, and this can come with its complications. I am not a fan of full rhyme sing song stories, but I loved the illustrations and how they enhance the story through characters' facial expressions. In fact, I put it on a "mix tape" for my 5-year-old nephew years ago, right alongside "Yellow Submarine". The Velvet Underground quickly became one of the groups targeted and were released from their contract. That's not healthy, and even though the book is cute overall and has a positive perspective about spending time with someone you love, the emphasis on needing someone else to determine your identity isn't a message that I would want to encourage for small children. Following on from the huge success of the first picture book, I'm Sticking with You, this gorgeous rhyming sequel is the perfect continuation of a heartwarming story. There are 1980 home-recorded versions of Chuck Berry’s “Around and Around” and the Shirelles’ “Will You Love Me Tomorrow?

It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. Bear and squirrel do everything together and sometimes it can be too much BUT it’s much better to do things together instead of alone. Sometimes people just need some space, but you’ll always go looking for that special person again later on. The references to the conflict over vietnam war and the nationalism of the moon landing set the historical period and counterculture mood. It's one of my favorite VU songs and one that I enjoy singing along to, so I'm definitely familiar with the lyrics.

Once Squirrel finds Bear and remedies the hurt, the rest of the book is told in alternating voice, with Bear's and Squirrel's lines designated by different texts. The CD issue of VU omits the first few seconds of "Foggy Notion", which includes a practice guitar lick and the band members talking. Ross Welford introduces Time Travelling with a Tortoise, the sequel to Time Travelling with a Hamster, and a whole new time travel adventure!
