About this deal

He died of a heart attack [10] in a hotel room in Mexico City on December 2, 1982 at age 48 [6] during the making of the film Yellowbeard; the film was subsequently dedicated to him. This book introduced me to the real Marty Feldman: the street-wise kid who quit or was expelled from 13 schools before running away from home at age fifteen to live what was then known as a bohemian life in France. In 1954, Feldman met Barry Took while both were working as performers, and with Took, he eventually formed an enduring writing partnership which lasted until 1974. In 1974, Dennis Main Wilson produced a short BBC sketch series for Feldman titled Marty Back Together Again—a reference to reports about the star's health—but it never captured the impact of the earlier series. And the inconsistencies like petty crime was in Marty's blood and yet he wasn't cut out to be villain; they don't make sense to me.

No one has ever made me laugh as hard as Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein, he was pure comic perfection. And perhaps another biographer could have latched on to a detail like that and written a much better work – by acknowledging the brilliant moments and the great work, but zeroing in on how it all went wrong.

Hilarious, deeply charming, aphoristic, ironic, charged throughout with lust for life and filled with scenes of great vanished eras and and portraits of other performers and friends, eYE Marty is the amazing discovery of the story of a man who was at the heart of the British comedy revolution. Poi la consapevolezza dell’innata capacità di riuscire a far ridere e da quel momento una via praticamente segnata.

Feldman is buried in the Garden of Heritage at Forest Lawn – Hollywood Hills Cemetery, California, near his idol, Buster Keaton. Nevertheless, he generally did not seriously discuss politics in public, and once stated: "I feel it would be presumptuous for me to make any statements about American politics because I’m a guest here. In 1970, Marty, with his wife, Lauretta, moved to Los Angeles to appear in Mel Brooks's Young Frankenstein. I've always been a fan of Marty's, and to read bits of his sketch writing and poetry scattered throughout an autobiography of fearless, comedy genius and scrappy bohemian bliss.

But there is still much candour in Feldman's original material, which was rescued from his widow's attic and transcribed by Mark Flanagan, nightclub owner and family friend.

Il libro si rileva ricchissimo di aneddoti e riferimenti ad interviste di chi l'ha conosciuto e frequentato e un'occasione per ricordare questo ottimo attore, regista e sceneggiatore scomparso troppo presto, a soli 48 anni. For BBC Radio they wrote Round the Horne (1964–67), their best-remembered comedy series, which starred Kenneth Horne and Kenneth Williams. The book is exactly as Feldman wrote it, his great friend Mark Flanagan, had it transcribed, with even the photos inserted where Feldman had noted where they should go. From his youth as a tramp on the streets of London, to the height of his fame in America – where he encountered everyone from Orson Welles to Kermit the Frog, before his Hollywood dream became a nightmare – this is the fascinating story of a key figure in the history of comedy, fully told for the first time.

Per non parlare delle fughe verso Parigi, all’epoca città simbolo per artisti ed intellettuali, alla ricerca di qualcosa che non riusciva a trovare tra recitazione e musica jazz. Publishers Coronet say Feldman finished, and set aside Eye Marty soon before travelling to Mexico – and say he was ‘haunted by the notion’ of his own death. Thanks to lost show recordings and few repeats, all we really know him for is a hump and a great line about werewolves. Feldman suffered from thyroid disease and developed Graves' ophthalmopathy, causing his eyes to protrude and become misaligned. My mind is an attic full of crazy dreams that never quit or disappoint me, and I have been blessed with these eyEs to see things differently and have people see me in a different way.

Be sure to pick up Marty's new autobiography that will be released posthumously on November 6th, 2015! One of the nicest things, underlying the whole book, is Marty's love for his wife, Lauretta, and hers for him.
