About this deal

This was a fascinating story that unfortunately felt realistic, not so much the gravity of their secrets but the pretenses they presented outwardly and to each other. It was a combustible set of circumstances that was destined to implode or explode. I chose to listen to this story and was thrilled that there were multiple narrators used to present each family member’s point of view. All delivered great performances as they helped me visualize the characters consistent with how they appeared to be crafted. I also liked the well timed POV transitions. It enhanced the storytelling. I liked the ending, didn’t love it, but was satisfied nonetheless, despite that last line. I think I “get” it, or at least I choose to. This author has yet to let me down. I think there was at least one point in this book that I hated every character except Eli and Colbie. Her family is awful, just no redeeming qualities at all. Even Caden, who is supposed to be the one brother that cares about her, lies to her for months and honestly doesn’t put that much thought into their relationship. Even her “best friend” does some really questionable things to her. The only worthwhile thing she did was not tell the school about her and Eli’s relationship. I think overcoming these obstacles and people made their relationship even more special. And now somebody or a group of random vandals may know their secrets and harass the family! It start with throwing eggs, smearing poop, puncturing tires, throwing smoking bombs! Police thought it was work of a few mischievous kids! But when somebody tried to burn their house down as they sleep inside, things get more escalated than they thought.

In the first chapter we read that Gemma is shot during her graduation. She is in her coma as other characters need to unwind the secret of who the attempted murderer is, and what the reason of this committed crime. Along the way we find out about certain hidden secrets that relatives and family members have kept from others. The secret extends as characters begin to think whether these old secrets are associated with the current attempted murder. There are some dubious activities from various characters, before the secret is solved. The story is wrapped up in a genuinely fulfilling way. The loose ends are tied up, and the motive of the crime is clarified. I skimmed through his book, because the blurb was much better than the story. During a cathedral ceremony, a uni graduate-to-be is shot from the upper balcony of a cathedral. Given the distance and bodily damage, I thought a long gun, but police say the shooter used a handgun. The DI says, “We’ve recovered the bullet but it’s not giving a lot away.” The police assume a silencer was used, based on “all the video footage.” No other evidence is presented about anything else gleaned from said videos. At the cathedral shooting, a mother heard a thud from behind the trumpeters, as if “something heavy, like a large music book,” had been dropped. In a later scene, when a private investigator is shot in the chest, the shooter doesn’t have a silencer. BTW, after that gunshot, the PI underwent surgery on his shoulder. The family hadn’t been harassed in months, but then the house was egged again in the epilogue. The Review: Each character has their own specific challenge to confront, Whether it be a secret from the past or a current adversary. Every one of the characters is likeable and intriguing. Each offers a potential answer for the secret, which is the thing that keeps us speculating and enjoying. For some of us, when a new movie gets released with popular actresses such as Meg Ryan, Jennifer Aniston, or Reese Witherspoon .... we feel a happy endorphin buzz.

Eli is her knight in shining armour. I adored him from the start. The way he fought and denied himself to try to save them both. His love so strong and true that time had no meaning. Eli had hired Finn to do the minor vandalism on his parents’ house, but the kids took it too far. He was confronting them and telling them to stop when his mom shot him. The Ending: Grab a girlfriend and some popcorn. Some of us look forward to these endearing psychologically savvy stories—a little overly dramatic —that cuts close to the truth of possibilities. Robyn Harding has created another group of addictive yet semi-toxic personalities...all under one roof. I was nervous to start Her Perfect because quite frankly, I don’t do a lot of books with an age difference or student/teacher books for that matter. I was glad I went in with an open mind though because the feelings this book evoked from me were visceral. The love these two characters had for each other was set on fire, the deep ache I felt for the heroine’s inner turmoil created some of the fattest tears I have had roll down my face, and the overall message was etched into my heart. This book has layers to it that I hope it reaches many young adults across this community.Without being obvious, I watched her in class. I listened when she talked to other people. If I saw her in the hall, I observed her body language and how she interacted. I craved something personal from her, and it pained me that she’d given me nothing other than indifference.” A gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of I Am Watching You . The perfect family? Or the perfect lie? To Thomas and Viv Adler appearances are all important. They have the perfect house in an affluent neighbourhood, flashy cars and the perfect family of two seemingly nice children, a boy, Eli, at college and a girl, Tarryn, heading that way when she finishes school in a year or so. Not surprisingly Thomas and Viv both have jobs where a perfect facade is important. Thomas is a realtor, presenting perfectly styled houses to buyers and Vivian is an interior designer. Overall! I enjoyed Her Perfect Family by Teresa Driscoll. The writer worked really well in uncovering the plot as the story is told according to alternate points of view. The first person viewpoint of Rachel truly connect the reader to that character. The pacing was bit slow at start but then it was good after completing quarter of the book. So I wouldn’t say that this is awesome, however for the most part a pretty solid psychological thriller. The story is told through each member of this not-so-perfect family while they reveal their secrets and thoughts to us. They have a lot of thoughts to share with us that felt a little too much at times and I might of done a little eye rolling. They share their guilt and shame as well as their fears. They all think they are being targeted because of their secrets, which creates some tension and suspense that drives the story forward.

In a small town from Georgia where life revolves around football, Colbie is the middle child, only girl, in a family of football players. She is an overachiever, vying for valedictorian and a piano prodigy. What she is not is a football fan or an athlete which makes her invisible to her family. Which leads to low self-esteem and self harm. You think you know someone! Will you figure this book out? I loved that there were several things to figure out in this book! It kept me engaged, on the edge of my seat and going through my suspect list. What a delicious and clever whodunit! There was a chance the porch railing could catch fire, that it could climb the wooden posts an ignite the second story. If the smoke alarms didn't work... Well, the world would be a better place without people like the Adlers. I lit the match. And let it drop." I had no idea what I’d done to deserve her praise, but hearing my name pass her lips was even better than I’d dreamed. Sultry, yet innocent. Warm and inviting. Soft and heartfelt. One syllable, three letters. No one had ever arranged them on their tongue the way Colbie Chapman just did, and I never wanted another woman to utter them with affection.”
