About this deal

Octarius introduced us to an entirely new way to play Kill Team, with Narrative Play rules for Spec Ops camapigns. A far cry from the weak campaign rules of KT17, these new rules give each player a base of operations to upgrade and protect, as well as experience, operative upgrades, and an armory of rare equipment to outfit their team with before each engagement. The Chalnath Shadow Operations Rules This rulebook collects all the rules and content related to the Gallowdark season of Kill Team. Apart from a slightly expanded campaign system, it doesn’t contain anything that hasn’t been released in other publications during the season. It is, however, not without its flaws: frustrating scenery builds and an at times confusing and convoluted build guide can leave you scratching your head and wondering what exactly it is you’ve done wrong at points during the build process. But once everything is finished and put together, the results can’t be argued with.

While the miniatures from the previous editions, along with the Warhammer 40,000 miniature range are still useable in Kill Team 2021, also known as KT21 or Kill Team 2nd Editon, the rules and supplements are not, as Kill Team has a brand new reworked ruleset. Kill Team 2021 logo.

Mission actions are specific to the mission you are playing, and will be detailed by that mission’s briefing. Missions can be found here (Open Play mission) and here (Spec Ops Narrative missions).

That gives you a semi-varied, symmetrical battlefield to play around, and should do fine for smaller games. I’d probably turn the fronteris buildings 90 degrees, depending on the mission and deployment map, to maximize players’ ability to hide units. That’s it for this week – so head to the Games Workshop webstore now to form your teams and start the killing! And make sure that you’re signed up to our newsletter so you never miss any future releases. Kill Team Into The Dark is a brand new Starter Set for Kill Team containing everything two players need to start playing. Hallowed Ground sees the famous witch hunter duo Galen and Doralia ven Denst coming to terms with the culmination of the siege of Excelsis. When Galen disappears into the wilds of Ghur, his daughter sets off on his trail, but what secret is the veteran seeking? The Moroch campaign book with rules for both kill teams in the box, as well as rules for playing campaigns and other battles in the Moroch Killzone Kill Team also features Tac Ops Objectives, which are drawn at the start of the game, and are secret ways of scoring victory points, on top of the usual mission objectives. There are generic Tac Ops Objectives for use with all factions, along with faction-specific Tac Ops. What Do I Need To Play Kill Team? a Recruit edition book with the rules for the two kill teams in the box and some tutorial missions.

This rulebook is a collection of rules released throughout 2021 and 2022, with some extra bits thrown in. The book contains rules for: When I first saw that there were only 7 pieces of scenery in this box, I remember thinking that it seemed a bit frugal. “Only seven little bits of ruined wall? Pshaw.” Incendiary Bombs are used for a preliminary bombardment of sort,s called in at the start of the Set Up operatives step to do mortal wounds to any enemy operatives that are set up on the vantage points of one terrain feature. Take that for what you will. That’s not strictly what we’re here to look at today, so let’s move on to the good stuff. Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Chalnath Review – Unboxing Novitates are unique in that they give you a bonus for dying. Blessed Martyrdom (1 RP) is used after a game where you had one or more Novitates fail their casualty tests. For each death, you can give a surviving operative 1 XP. This is pretty great for making the best of a bad situation and getting someone over the edge to their next advancement. Field Punishment on the other hand is used for when your operatives just utterly fail you – used when an operative is incapacitated and doesn’t perform any mission actions, you can remove it from your team and replace it with a Novitate Penitent with the same scars/honours/experience. Then you can presumably have your superior whip the shit out of her every game until she atones for her failure. Finally there’s Saint Potentia, used to upgrade a novitate who gains the Revered rank. You only get one Saint Potentia at a time, and while she’s on the table you gain 1 extra faith point per turn. Then if she dies and you also have a Sanctum, you get 1 Relic for it. Which is a cool way to have the game model that you kept her skull/finger/rib/whatever around as a creepy object of worship. I love rules like this. Spec OpsThere are some really lovely models in this part of the kit: the novitiates themselves are wondrously detailed, and there are so many weapons and other customisation options across the kit to make each one really unique. Whilst five of the scenery pieces are, indeed, the kind of low ruined walls one may expect to find littering the battlefield of any table top game of 40K, the final two bits of scenery, which are much larger sections of ruined buildings (or one ruined building if you position it in such a way) are enormous. For the less narratively-inclined, the missions are also fine. They offer some good variation from the standard rulebook ones, and they’re varied enough that you won’t get tired of them on the first playthrough.
