Let’s face it, I know that Meyers is no literary genius, but she did manage to get a nation or two of young adults and others, myself included, scurrying to the bookstore eager to read the next installment in her vampire saga. Sparkly or not. Sperling, Nicole (July 16, 2008). " 'Twilight' hits Hollywood". Entertainment Weekly. Meredith Corporation . Retrieved January 10, 2020.

Two things I’ve always enjoyed about Stephenie Meyer’s books. One, I think she’s funny. As I listened to the audiobook, I laughed out loud multiple times at the dialogue. Second, say what you will about her actual writing, but I think her plots are very fun and engaging, and this one was no exception – I loved watching the story unfold and all the twists and turns in took.Cesiri, Daniela; Coccetta, Francesca (2019). This bothers her to no end and said boys brother almost takes her out with the help of his dog Einstein. He found that wasn't so easy to do =)

However, Meyer has been criticized by feminists who consider Meyer an antifeminist writer. They say that the series romanticizes a physically abusive relationship, criticizing things like Bella's entire life revolving around Edward; never being in control of her own life; being absolutely dependent on Edward's ability to protect her life, her virginity, and her humanity; and the physical injuries Bella suffers from finally consummating her relationship with Edward. [192] [193] [194] Meyer has dismissed such criticisms, saying both that the books center around Bella's choice and that her damsel in distress persona is due only to her humanity. [195] Women's studies scholar Donna Ashcraft argues that Meyer is not a feminist, by definition, because her novels encourage traditional gender roles. However, although Ashcraft qualifies Meyer as traditional or non-feminist, she says that Meyer is not antifeminist. [191] Smyth, Karen Elizabeth (2011). I was genuinely curious about how Meyer would move from paranormal YA to an adult Spy Thriller. Would I find myself amazed as I typed out a positive review about how far she has come? Would I be rolling my eyes as I ranted about how terrible and offensive this was? Honestly, though, this book isn't as exciting as either of those options. For all Twilight's faults, most people would agree that it's a thrilling premise for a lot of teen girls - a hot vampire who will love you forever, oh my! But The Chemist is just not very good. And it's also really boring. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012), film directed by Bill Condon, based on novel Breaking Dawn

The narrative does not flow very well. It feels clunky and cobbled together. At the same time it felt like the author was just trying too hard, most especially in introducing and fleshing out the protagonist Alex. It was like she was trying to convince herself about the plausibility of this character and quite frankly the more she said the worse it got. Um, is this some kind of fetish fantasy thing? ...I don't really know the rules for that stuff..." (14%)Barrett, Annie (April 30, 2009). "Twilight: TwiCon is coming. Do not put away that pea coat".
