About this deal

This short story is set five or six months before the beginning of Stormbreaker, meaning that this is the first short story chronologically. It was published in two parts, part two being printed a week after the first part. Notably, this story is written in the first person, from Alex Rider's perspective, and it is currently the only part of the series written this way. Becquart, Charlotte (4 March 2021). Skeleton Key was published in 2002. After foiling a Triad plot to fix the 2001 Wimbledon tennis tournament and befriending Sabina, Alex is in grave danger of assassination. Forced to leave the country, MI6 sends him on a mission to Cuba with two doubtful CIA agents, of whom he is the sole survivor. He encounters former Soviet general Alexei Sarov, who tries to adopt Alex and expresses ideas of a nuclear holocaust and world domination under communist rule. Alex then foils his plans saving the world for a third time.

My complaints about this volume are minor. As you'd expect, there's violence, but it's rarely bloody and never gory. Profanity occasionally comes up; mostly uses of the h-word. Drugs are mentioned, but their use is vilified. The most disappointing part was about a villain's body piercings; talk about too much information! a b Richards, Will (5 June 2020). [9] Book Genre: Action, Adventure, Childrens, Espionage, Fiction, Middle Grade, Mystery, Short Stories, Spy Thriller, Teen, Thriller, Young Adult I didn't feel this was as good as the later novels or short stories. Alex is kind of dim. I mean jeez how many hints can you get? And fair enough if he just decided not to ask but he didn't even seem to realise something was up with his uncle. 2 stars.

Originally published as Quite a Ride and Incident in Nice and now titled, High Tension. The basic premise is the same but the names of the family Alex stays with are changed. This short story is set after Point Blanc and before Skeleton Key. Like most anthologies there are weaker contributions, but Alex Rider: Secret Weapon: Seven Untold Adventures from the Life of a Teenaged Spy seems like an exception. They were all rather well written and balance thrilling adventures rather evenly throughout the anthology and they were all written rather well. A little while later, Alex is on a school excursion to a weapon museum when he encounters Skoda, a drug dealer whom Alex once put in jail after using a crane to drop the canal boat he'd been living in from a height into the middle of a police conference. His face, damaged from the accident, had changed since Alex last saw him.

Alex Rider has been through a lot for his fourteen years. He’s been shot at by international terrorists, chased down a mountainside on a makeshift snowboard, and has stood face-to-face with pure evil. Twice, young Alex has managed to save the world. And twice, he has almost been killed doing it. But now Alex faces something even more dangerous. The desperation of a man who has lost everything he cared for: his country and his only son. A man who just happens to have a nuclear weapon and a serious grudge against the free world. To see his beloved Russia once again be a dominant power, he will stop at nothing. Unless Alex can stop him first… Uniting forces with America’s own CIA for the first time, teen spy Alex Rider battles terror from the sun-baked beaches of Miami all the way to the barren ice fields of northernmost Russia. Raven, Maddy (4 February 2021). " 'Alex Rider' Season 2 starts filming at Goldney Hall". Epigram. University of Bristol. International bestselling author Anthony Horowitz's short story collection expands the universe of teen spy Alex Rider with more thrilling action, espionage, and pulse-pounding heroics. In this newly published version, this is set after Eagle Strike, there are name changes and the plot has been expanded.

The sniper’s bullet nearly killed him. But Alex Rider managed to survive . . . just in time for more trouble to come his way. When kidnappers attempt to snatch a fellow patient from the exclusive hospital where Alex is recovering, he knows he has to stop him. But the boy he saves is no ordinary patient: He is the son of Nikolai Drevin, one of the richest men in the world. The eccentric billionaire has been targeted by Force Three, a group of eco-terrorists who claim his project Ark Angel—the first luxury hotel in outer space—is a danger to the environment. Soon Alex discovers that Force Three will stop at nothing to destroy Ark Angel, even if it means sending four hundred tons of molten glass and steel hurtling down to Earth and killing millions . . . unless Alex can stop them.

Mitovich, Matt Webb (14 July 2020). "Alex Rider Spy Novel Adaptation Lands Stateside Home on IMDb TV". TVLine . Retrieved 16 July 2020. In the most recent book, Nightshade, it is revealed that the two children Alex saw in the photograph in Mrs. Jones' apartment when he was sent to kill her in Scorpia are in fact her son and daughter, William and Sofia. She reveals that their father (and her husband, from whom she is estranged but not legally separated) was "Hans Meyer", a Russian deep cover agent disguised as a German writer; when Blunt told her of "Hans'" true allegiance, she telephoned him and told him that she knew. He fled the country, abducting William and Sofia (who were six and four, respectively) in the process. She believed that she had lost her children forever, until the assassination of MI6 agent "Pablo" in Rio showed that Sofia was involved in the man's death; although she escaped, she was photographed. Alex goes undercover at the criminal group "Nightshade" in Crete, and discovers that William and Sofia, along with twenty-one other children, are the organisation's assassins. By the novel's end, Alex manages to reunite Sofia with her mother, for deprogramming. Mrs. Jones hints that she may end up recruiting Alex to MI6 properly in the future. In Nightshade Revenge, Alex is able to recover William as well, and at the end of the novel Mrs. Jones resigns from MI6 to look after her children, actively ending Alex's involvement with MI6.

All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. Alex's athletic talents greatly assist him during his missions many times: for example, in Point Blanc he snowboards down a mountain on an ironing board to escape Point Blanc Academy, in Skeleton Key he scuba dives into Skeleton Key, in Scorpia he base jumps into a factory, in Ark Angel he walks between two apartment buildings on a tightrope and in Snakehead, he kayaks down a river on a makeshift kayak.
