In[ 3], a temperature-gradient supply voltage is employed to power up the ring oscillator, to achieve temperature-independent oscillating frequency. Besides, a proportional to absolute temperature (PTAT) current can also reach the same goal. By tuning the supply voltage or tail current, the oscillator can be perfectly compensated under one process corner, but when process corner changes, the compensation circuit will lose effect. Thus, a post-fabrication trimming circuit will be required. To avoid external references or post-fabrication testing, a novel technique to achieve high frequency stability is proposed.
