About this deal

Those specs must paint a pretty picture of the Mi 11’s display, and so they should, as it’s a punchy and sharp screen. It’s the company’s ‘AI imagine engine’ that’s doing the real work, though. This is a suite of AI features that digitally upscales content you view on your smartphone – frames are added to videos to increase the framerate, HDR is added to photos, video resolution is increased. The good news continues in the performance stakes. The Xiaomi Mi 11 is the first smartphone we’ve tested powered by the brand-spanking-new Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is Qualcomm’s first 5nm SoC, so we should expect to see higher levels of sustained performance with a boost to overall efficiency as well. It’s not clear why this was happening, but it repeatedly happened after we’d returned the settings to our preferences, and an update didn’t fix the issue. Xiaomi Mi 11 battery life Nonetheless, the Mi 11's battery does a good job at keeping the phone powered up. After watching an hour of YouTube in full screen mode (the main battery-intensive activity I use my phones for), the Mi 11 lost 8% of its total charge. That equates to a full day of binge-watching the remakes of Hamilton songs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which means the Mi 11 will probably handle a day of actual work capably without needing an emergency trip to a charging plug. It's still enough for the Xiaomi to really impress. On the Geekbench 5 general benchmark, the Mi 11 scored 1,112 on the single core section and 3,379 on the multi-core section. The basic Galaxy S21 only manages 1,048 and 3,302 respectively.

Improved graphics rendering is also on the cards, with the embedded Adreno 660 GPU returning an average frame rate of 96fps in the GFXBench Manhattan 3 benchmark at native (WQHD+) resolution. The final camera is a 5MP f/2.4 ‘telemacro’ camera, and it’s certainly the star of the show. Macro lenses are used for close-up pictures of subjects, but that ‘tele-’ prefix denotes that the lens is designed for snapping far-off objects – put that together, and it’s a camera designed to take pictures of small objects from (relatively) far away - it’s activated when you turn on Super Macro mode. Xiaomi usually reserves telephoto, or zoom, cameras for its ‘Pro’ models, and that’s the case here, as there’s no lens for optical zoom. You can digitally zoom up to 30x, but the further you zoom the lower the quality of the image, and beyond 5x images are a little too grainy. The Mi 11 has a 6.81in edge-to-edge screen, with a native resolution of 1,440 x 3,200 and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. It has the same 108MP main camera unit (Samsung’s Isocell HM3 sensor) as the pricier Galaxy S21 Ultra and it also has ultrawide and macro cameras. Lastly, it runs Android 11 from the get-go and comes with either 128GB or 256GB of storage as well as 8GB of RAM. Xiaomi Mi 11 review: Price and competition We had great fun taking good-looking photos of close-up details on things like plants, foodstuffs and fabrics – in fact, we wrote a whole feature on it. Pictures are bright and fairly well detailed (at least, compared to images from other macro snappers on phones), and the mode is very easy to use.

Site Customisation

Another product from Muchi on AliExpress and is quite popular among the buyers. The same is available in five different color options. As we mentioned above, it covers the entire camera module; only camera sensors are visible. The Mi 11 is long and thin as phones go – it’s not quite a Sony Xperia phone in that regard, but it’s not a million miles off. As such, despite its size, it’s fairly comfortable to hold and use one-handed, though people with smaller digits may still find it a stretch to reach the upper part of the screen. The Mi 11 features a 6.81-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It’s the first time that Xiaomi device is featuring a Quad HD panel and a 120Hz refresh rate. To add a premium touch, Xiaomi used the Gorilla Glass Victus for the display. It has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, which is built on the 5nm process underneath the new flagship. With the chipset, Qualcomm has included the Adreno 660 GPU. The phone comes with memory options such as 8GB/12GB RAM and 128/256GB of new UFS 3.1 storage. It runs on the latest MIUI 12 out of the box with Android 11. Under the hood, the Xiaomi Mi 11 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. While you get the latest chipset Qualcomm has to offer, you only have 8GB RAM, which pales in comparison to the 12GB you can now find on top performing Androids like the Galaxy S21 Ultra or Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

These are original cases from Xiaomi specifically for the Mi 11. It comes in color options like Gray and Blue and looks far better than the official covers we added above. The cases are also super light, so they will be of great comfort to use.Third on our list is the dual layer case for the Xiaomi Mi 11. Constructed from high-grade TPU and hard PC material, it provides maximum protection to your phone in case of impacts and scratches. It features a metal patch that can easily be attached to a magnetic holder in a car for easy GPS navigation or hands-free watching. The reinforced edge cushioning and raised edges provides full protection of the four corners from drops and sudden jerks. So the Xiaomi Mi 11 is a great smartphone and one of the best Xiaomi phones, but it's certainly not a flawless phone. connectivity may vary based on region availability and local operator support. 5G SA connectivity enhancements may be added via OTA where applicable.

While you can set the main camera to take 108MP photos via the Pro mode in the Mi 11’s camera app, the phone takes 27MP photos by default. The Mi 11 manages this by combining sensor data from four pixels into one virtual pixel, a process called pixel binning. This saves you space in your phone's storage, plus it's ideal for low-light shots, at least in theory. The display has a 120Hz refresh rate, which many flagships now use, though Xiaomi does have a 144Hz phone on the market too. This means the image updates 120 times per second, double the ‘standard’ of 60Hz, and in effect this makes moving images appear smoother. Not everyone cares for the feature though, and you can turn the refresh rate down to 60Hz if you prefer, and this saves battery life. The not-so-good news is that the Xiaomi Mi 11 fails to impress in the stamina department. Lasting for 16hrs 38mins on a single charge at the default 60Hz and WQHD+ resolution, the Xiaomi Mi 11’s video rundown score isn’t anything special, matching the iPhone 12 but trailing behind the Galaxy S21 by over two hours. Switch to 120Hz, and the Mi 11’s battery life plummets to 13hrs 19mins. All data comparison related to dimension are from Xiaomi Laboratory, which compared Mi 11 with Mi 10.Trying out Marvel Contest of Champions proved that these scores are reflected by real-world performance. Watching Spider-Man beat up rival superheroes looked great and displayed smoothly on the Xiaomi Mi 11. The Mi 11's 480Hz touch sampling rate allows the display to react faster to taps than the average phone's.

The phone returned a multi-core score of 3569 in the Geekbench 5 benchmark test, which is actually the highest of any phone we’ve ranked, beating the 3424 of the iPhone 11 Pro Max and 3401 of the OnePlus 8, although we should point out the iPhone 12 series hasn’t been put through this test yet. The Galaxy S21 Plus, which uses the same chip and RAM capacity, beat the Mi 11's single core score with 1,116, but the Mi 11 edged out the S21 Plus’ multicore score of 3,300. The S21 Ultra easily beats the Mi 11 on both tests, but has an easy advantage thanks to 12GB of RAM.Another case available for Mi 11 is the armour case from Asling. It will protect your smartphone if it drops and nothing will happen to your device. U.K. customers shouldn't have to worry though. There's much greater unity between the 5G carriers over here, and all of them should offer 5G support with the Mi 11 according to Xiaomi's specs. The main snapper is 108MP f/1.9 – this is the fifth Xiaomi phone to use such a high-res sensor, and they’ve all used this same Samsung one. That doesn’t mean photos look exactly the same as before though, as the results of our testing seemed slightly better, with improved contrast and an overall lighter tone. This is likely the result of improved AI optimization. There's no U.S. availability for Xiaomi, with the company currently in dispute with the U.S. government. (Not that Xiaomi phones were readily available in the U.S. before that.) You'll probably be able to find it available for import if you've got your mind set on a Mi 11, but given the additional cost and potential trouble with 4G/5G band compatibility, you're probably better off buying a phone that's already sold in your country. Our guide to the best Android phones is a good place to start if you need alternative ideas. This is one of the cheap and best quality cases available for Mi 11. It is ultra-thin, so it will not add any extra weights to your device. It is available in different colours.
