About this deal

Most buyers were pleased with the fact that the DC18 is easy to 1) use, 2) move around, and 3) empty. There are mixed opinions regarding how tolerable noise levels are from the DC18, but the good news is that it comes with a quieter low fan speed. It’s not just your crumbling walls you need to worry about, it’s your health. Mould and fungus are a bad thing when confined indoors and are a recognised cause of respiratory problems including chest infections, allergies and asthma.A dehumidifier isn’t the ultimate cure, but it will dry out the offending area. It'll also help prevent mould spores from getting airborne and make things a little more habitable.

Be precise in managing humidity levels via an Intelligent LED control and be guided by a host of sensors and alarms, which simplify use. Perfect for any application in the home. A lot of dehumidifiers, even those with large litre-per-day capacities, have water collection tanks of 6 L or less, so don’t be put off by those smaller numbers. Desiccant or Compressor Dehumidifier

How Easy Is It To Use?

Surprisingly, the DC12 comes with a large 3.5 litre water tank. This is much bigger than many other dehumidifiers. If you want to minimise how often you’re required to empty the dehumidifier, the DC12 is one of the larger options in its price range.

The DC12 comes with a “Touch Button” control panel and basic LED display. We’re not sure why EcoAir describes this panel as “Intelligent,” but it’s simple to use and provides all the information you need at a glance. We would have liked to have seen a more advanced display for monitoring humidity, but considering the price range it does the job. A standard two year warranty gives extra peace of mind, but at the heart is an extraction capability of max 18L per day. EcoAir strive for improved user experience and, as such, look for functions that meet our customers’ high expectations and needs. In terms of performance, this dehumidifier reduces the humidity sufficiently that there is a noticeable increase in the indoor temperature, as well as visibly less condensation on windows. When used on turbo, it can be a useful machine to speed up the process of drying clothes inside; however, this mode can be quite noisy. Even so, its lower fan setting is much more bearable. At 41dB, it’s not too distracting when in the same room. It’s also probably quiet enough on the lower fan setting to watch TV. Energy Efficiency

Consuming 160 W, this is one of the best dehumidifiers for your conservatory if you are looking for something that works well without it being overly loud or astronomically expensive to run. You’re looking at a cost of roughly 3.14p per hour. If there is mild damp, you’ll want a dehumidifier with a 14.5 L capacity for a large conservatory . For small and medium conservatories (up to 45 m²), get a dehumidifier with at least a 5.5 L capacity. For more severe damp, look for a capacity of at least 7.5 L if it’s a small/medium conservatory . For larger spaces, choose a 20 L dehumidifier. Out of the two types of dehumidifier, compressor dehumidifiers are generally cheaper to run. Desiccant DehumidifiersIf you are anything like me, then you don’t enjoy having to empty the tank every now and then. For something that clears an astounding 18 litres of water a day, the storage tank is relatively small. But you also get the welcome option of using a hose to continually drain the water. This will save you dozens of trips to the sink every now and then. In operation, the Inventor does emit a slight hum from the fan although it’s nothing to get too worked up about. There’s built-in air filtration though along with an automatic shut-off function just in case the tank gets full and you’re not around to empty it. The other boon with this machine is that it is reasonably lightweight at 11.4kg, which means you can easily move it to other rooms as and when it’s needed. It’s capable of pulling 20 litres of moisture from the air, in spaces up to 35 m². Plus, thanks to the 4-litre water tank, it doesn’t need emptying too frequently either. There’s also a hose included to allow for continuous drainage, rather than relying on the water tank, if preferred. The following information gives a rough guide about which size dehumidifier you should buy: Mild Damp This large Vonhaus 20L Dehumidifiercan help keep the humidity at around 55 – 65% even in a large conservatory.

It can remove 20 litres of moisture per day and has an automatic ‘humidistat’ sensor (like a thermostat, but for humidity). There’s also as an easy-read digital LED display and a large 5.5 litre water-storage tank.Compressor dehumidifiers like the EcoAir DC18 operate best in high-temperature conditions. However, this particular model will continue to work even if the temperature falls to 5° C but not below that. The compressor turns off as the dehumidifier periodically enters into defrost mode when room temperature drops below 15° C. Customer Impressions This style of dehumidifier works better in warm environments because it requires the internal temperature of the dehumidifier to be lower than the surrounding air. If temperatures are below 15°C, a desiccant dehumidifier will be a better choice. Compressor humidifiers don’t raise the temperature as much as desiccant dehumidifiers, so in hot environments where you don’t want more heat, a compressor dehumidifier will be more desirable. Easy to use Touch Panel with Active Humidistat, Clean Filter Indicator, 1-24H Timer, Auto Shut Off, Auto Defrost. EcoAir classifies the DC18 dehumidifier as a compact unit and rightly so since it does not take up a lot of space (measuring in at just 52.6 x 39.4 x 27.6 cm). But, for a small appliance, it is quite heavy. The entire unit weighs about 14.5Kg. Fortunately, this dehumidifier has four castors fixed to the base, which swivel 360 degrees, to help make moving the DC18 a little easier.
