Description

Armored Core 4 is a 2006 mecha-based vehicular combat game developed by FromSoftware for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The fourth main entry of the Armored Core series, the game serves as a reboot for the franchise and is set in the future where a war has made the nations of Earth devastated and their respective governments have been replaced by corporations. Conflicts soon begin to break out between the corporations, which use massive combat robots, Armored Cores, to fight each other. The player is a Lynx, a name given to pilots of highly advanced NEXT Armored Cores. Armored Core: Formula Front was released on December 12, 2004, for the PlayStation Portable. [67] Like Nine Breaker, its focus was on Arena-style gameplay, though a new mechanic put a focus on building an artificial intelligence strategy for the Armored Core units to execute. [68] Formula Front was later released for the PlayStation 2 in Japan. [69]

With the PlayStation 2, split-screen and console linking continue to be the primary source of multiplayer. 2004's Armored Core: Nexus introduced the LAN multiplayer mode, in addition to connecting through their internet service and allowed up to 4 players to fight in matches together. This game showers players with new mech designs, some boasting the ability to morph and adapt on the battlefield. For enthusiasts who relish the detailed customization process, the roster of construction components has doubled, making mech personalization a dream come true. MULTIPLAYER MADNESS: BRINGING FRIENDS TO THE FIGHT So overall it's a good game but maybe with the difficulty not being as touch as I like it to be; made it a little shorter game than I would have wanted it to be! Armored Core is the first entry in a mecha game series of the same name, and spawned many sequels, including Armored Core: Project Phantasma and Armored Core: Master of Arena. [25] The making of Armored Core solidified FromSoftware's development skills, and in July 1999, they released the multiplayer action game Frame Gride for the Sega Dreamcast. [26] The company's focus would shift from RPGs to mech games due in part to the success of the Armored Core series. In 2002, FromSoftware released the mech action game Murakumo: Renegade Mech Pursuit for the Xbox. [26] In 2004, they released another Xbox title, Metal Wolf Chaos. In 2005, FromSoftware would start to produce a series of licensed games based on the various anime properties under the banner Another Century's Episode. [25] Armored Core would be FromSoftware's flagship series until the release of Demon's Souls, which elevated the studio to global popularity. The series would go on hiatus until the release of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon in August 2023. Not a single Armored Core game has sold more than one million copies, but that was before FromSoftware became the poster boy for hardcore enthusiasts. Nowadays, the Japanese heavyweight can sell 20 million units of Elden Ring with its eyes closed, and its latest game Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is going to benefit from that. Barring some sort of unmitigated disaster, the sixth mainline entry will be the best-selling Armored Core game of all time based purely on the fact the FromSoftware logo is printed on the box art.Serving as a direct sequel to Armored Core 3, Silent Line: Armored Core sees mankind starting to reclaim the surface after a life underground. And when people start vanishing beyond the mysterious Silent Line, players have to bring in a team of their own to investigate. Hinkle, David (April 15, 2009). Being an expansion, Silent Line allows players to import existing data into the game, bringing their favorite mechs with them. More importantly, the game introduces programmable AI that lets the computer take over the player’s mecha, alongside a first-person view that gives the game a much-needed change in visuals. Claim To Fame: Silent Line: Armored Core A common complaint from reviewers was that the speed of turning is too slow. IGN, Next Generation, and GamePro all commented on this, with Douglas describing it as his "only complaint". [4] [22] [24]The story is also a little confusing, honestly it's kind of hard sometimes to know where to go (the scanner helps a lot in this) and what is happening, listening to the dialogs. The majority of the game passes in urban scenarios, with many building that you can't even climb with your initial thruster... At its core, Armored Core 5 was a return to tradition for the modern Armored Core series, focusing more on tactical gameplay compared to the more fast-paced gameplay of its younger predecessors. While its story still features resistance against an oppressive power, more focus this time is given to the keen customization of the Armored Core to accommodate complicated battle situations. For players new to the AC game series, the handling of your armored core is not hard to get the hang of. After the tutorial and one or two missions, you'll be blazing around like nobody's business.
