I've never used it, so I'd love to hear from anyone that has on how effective it is.

Like all safe and good biologically-active products, this effect does not last forever, because it is a normal plant nutrient and therefore naturally dissipates within the plant. The Lily Beetle is about 8 – 10 mm long and are easy to spot as they are bright red. The adults spend the winter in sheltered places in the garden (not necessarily near lilies) before emerging in late March – May to feed on the lilies. They lay their eggs underneath the leaves throughout the summer and these eggs take about a week to hatch into beetle larvae, which then feed on lily foliage leaving holes in the flowers and leaves. The larvae are 6-8mm long, but they can be hard to spot as they will disguise themselves as bird droppings by covering themselves in excrement. They pupate in the ground and then 2 -3 weeks later they emerge as adult lily beetles. The bright red adult lily beetles feed on the flowers, leaves and stems of the lily before laying more eggs. By the end of this week most are now in 3-4 leaves and growing strong. But my radishes which are next door to these plants which I did not spray have been eaten alive now! I left them in the pots and last year they grew to about 130-150cm and the flowers weren’t as impressive. Please can you advise what I can do to get the best show this year. Thank you.

Grazers products are liquids, sold in either a ready-to-use (RTU) sprayable formulation or in concentrated form that requires dilution. This specific mix of calcium and adjuvant only works to keep away grazing pests when it is applied to the photosynthesising leaves, stems or flowers of any plant, thereby interacting with the plant’s own metabolic processes. Red lily beetle overwinters as adult beetles in soil, leaf litter and other sheltered places. This could be anywhere, not necessarily in the vicinity of lilies and fritillaries. They can also fly and find new hosts in the spring. They find lilies and fritillaries at least in part by volatile chemicals given off by the leaves, the adult beetles will also produce aggregation pheromones drawing more beetles to suitable host plants. Consequently, there is no advantage in attempting to treat the soil below lily plants. The beetles begin emerging on sunny days in late March and April when they seek out the foliage of host plants. A customer once mentioned to me that they planted their lilies alongside a garlic bulb and that seemed to help deter the lily beetle for them. Perhaps that may be worth a try also.
