About this deal

when he sees her at a bar after she just had a disastrous first date, he proposes to her to do a sort of "dating experiment". both of them have awful dating experience, so they think it's them and not the other people. maybe they should... see for each other if that's true, if they're doing something wrong. so now they're giving this a month, rating their cute dates, and spending so much time together to see if this experiment can come up with great results. instead they obviously fall in love lmao! Overall it was a pretty meh book and I have to say I am honestly glad that I finally managed to finish it. If the tropes are for you and you love insta-love, it still might be the book for you. Lovelight Farms is the sun kissing every exposed surface, the warmest hug, a familiar and comforting scent, and a Sunday state of mind that I am not ready to leave. I’m choosing to ignore the mishap in the third act. Everything else made up for it. Are phantom boops a thing or is it just me?

Stella and Luka Peters have been best friends for years. He agrees to be her fake boyfriend to help her win the contest. The rest, as they say, is history.

Success!

The fake dates were hilarious. I was getting tired of my housemates staring at me for laughing out loud, but I couldn’t help it. Who would have thought an escape room date can be so fun? I adore books that made me laugh and the characters were as charming as the rom-com scenes. Yeah they had good chemistry, but I did not care for how the ending of the no strings dating played out. Eventually it works out, of course, but the journey there was just okay for me.

Why can't I find a single human being that I connect with? My standards are not impossible. I want someone who makes me laugh. Who cares about what I do and what I say and what I think. I want to sit on the couch with someone in blissful, perfect, comfortable silence (). I want someone to give me butterflies. I can’t really explain how or why this happens - but every time I’ve started a book that later on will end up becoming an all time favorite… I get the same exact nervous stomach/heart starts racing/surge of anxiety feeling that lasts for the entirety of the time I’m reading the story —— and omigoddd did I get those feelings for this book. I almost forgot what it felt like since it’s been a hot minute… but nope, those feelings are still possible. Thank you B.K Borison for the reminder. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own. I jump in with two feet when there’s even a hint of something, pouring all of myself into everything. And then I second guess. I overthink. ILayla Dupree has given up on love. Apparently, owning the bakery at Inglewild’s most romantic destination does not help one’s love life – despite her best efforts. All she wants is a partner who gives her butterflies, not someone who ghosts her at dinner and leaves her with the cheque. I have a huge problem with him being fired. It’s over the top and so unnecessary. And since this is a POC hero, it makes me think all sorts of dark thoughts about racism when it doesn’t seem like this sort of book. Plus, the idea that he’s now acting as a substitute teacher!? Feels so wrong to make this choice. This feels like such a huge event for the male main character and to have it come out as an aside from the female main character when she’s sighing over how nice he is… ugh. I can’t. Featuring ~ dual 1st person POV, sunshine/sunshine, bakery owner, teacher, no strings dating, small town, secret crush, good amount of steamage The celebration of Christmas and the memories associated with it makes us more excited, and everything we do and see becomes more exciting, including the sunset.
