Still, the Fluid 2 has a relatively natural feel, and it's near enough to the road that it's not a distraction or frustrating, the way the slippier tire drive models can be. For its low cost and simplicity, it's an excellent choice, especially for riders just looking to get a few hours in a week for a short indoor season. Design While I do have a power meter I used for most of my training on the Fluid2, I did put a few sessions in using Zwift's zPower estimate from the Saris speed/cadence sensor. Against the power meter readings my zPower was overreading quite considerably, but then again neither Zwift nor Saris claim the estimated power is accurate.

We found the Pinnacle offers a smooth ride feel from its 5.7kg flywheel and it fels nice and natural, and the power delivery is good. The maximum gradient simulation is 20% and the wattage ceiling is a huge 2,500 watts, which no mortals will ever trouble. Our reviewer found the power to read around 3% higher in a comparison with a power meter crank, but this was mostly consistent throughout the sessions with only occasional drifting.Tacx claims the Flux S reads your power to an accuracy of +/- 3%. As well as that, this model can also simulate a maximum resistance of 1,500W which is very reasonable and good enough for most riders and their training needs. Additionally, the Flux S can simulate a climb of up to 10%. It’s also worth noting that the latest version now allows for the use of both gravel and mountain bikes as it has enough clearance for a long-arm derailleur. Elite's Suito sits at the cheaper end of the direct drive trainer market but it's well made and the performance is great for what you pay. As the basis for a lower budget smart set-up it's without a doubt an excellent starting point. It’s also compatible with training apps, easy to set up and the Suito-T version also comes with a Shimano and SRAM-compatible 11-speed cassette; a useful feature if it's compatible with your bike and/or if you aren’t too sure on how to fit one. Also, it overreads quite consistently, so if you just want a number and aren't particularly bothered if it's real-world, it's cheaper than going for direct drive.

This design also helps keep your trainer working better - for longer. And thanks to our built-to-last manufacturing process, the Saris Fluid 2 can help you conquer one goal after the next. If the items we have sent you are faulty, damaged or not as we described, we will cover the cost of collection and the delivery of the correct item. Before you can mount your bike, a little building is required, though it’s a simple job and even the least mechanically minded individual will be able to do it thanks to the simple instructions provided. Sitting comfortably in the top spot as the best turbo trainer is the Tacx Neo 2T. If you were looking for the best direct-drive smart trainer then look no further. This very quiet trainer is a highly capable piece of equipment that's easy to set up as well as store and has a resistance unit that’s able to simulate road surfaces by altering the resistance hundreds of times a second. Therefore helping to replicate a realistic riding experience on Zwift (which it is compatible with) from the comfort of your own home. With the legs folded out ready for action, the M2 has a footprint of 58cm long x 77cm wide x 40cm tall. With the legs folded in for storage it reduces the size to 33cm long x 52cm wide x 49cm tall, which makes for easy storage. shifting gears, just as you would outside. This design also helps keep your Fluid² working better – longer. And The ride feel is high quality, it's highly accurate with power accuracy a claimed +/-1%, and not even world-class sprinters will trouble its wattage ceiling at a huge 2,200 watts. The Wi-Fi connection is claimed to be 65% faster than Bluetooth or ANT+, so if you race on indoor training platforms like Zwift it's probably the best on the market for ensuring nothing cuts out mid-event.

What happens when you pair a speed sensor with a #1 best-selling bike trainer? You get a combo that’s ready for any virtual – or non-virtual – training ride. It’s the ideal setup for budget-conscious athletes looking to join fun, virtual communities, like Zwift, without a traditional smart trainer.

Bike Turbo Trainer

The M2 has eccentric levelling feet, which are easily hand twisted for adjustment on any uneven surfaces. A neat touch. The trainer can also replicate graidents of up to 15 percent. Claimed power accuracy is +/- 5 percent. Simon Bromley/Immediate Media The accuracy is excellent considering it's not a top-of-the-range trainer, and we found it to be consistently within +/-2% of our power meter in comparison tests. Recalibration is only required when you move the trainer, so it's literally plug and play in most cases.
