About this deal

Visual edits, such as Japanese text, are completely erased or replaced by English text to relate to non-Japanese countries. Body lines in the transformations are removed to prevent "mature themes." Mew Lettuce's transformation is cut, so Bridget (Retasu) is only shown transforming in group transformations. All Mew Mew marks are removed except for in the Mew's premiere episode. Renée's (Zakuro) weapon is censored because it is the shape of a Christian cross. When Ichigo's father finds out that she has a boyfriend, he does not approve. He demands that Masaya defeat him in a kendo match before he will allow them to continue dating. Ichigo complains to her mother, who explains that her father loves her and just wants to protect her. Her mother also tells her that they too had to fight to be together when they were young. Ichigo rushes to stop the fight, reminding her father of the past and how her mother did the same thing for him. Though he does not want to face that his "little girl" is growing up, he grudgingly gives his approval of the relationship. Ichigo meets a shy and timid girl named Retasu Midorikawa. Later at the café, Ichigo sees her with three other girls, who are trying to coerce an unwilling Retasu to try to photograph a rumored school ghost. Ichigo "accidentally" dumps parfaits on them to get them to leave Retasu alone. After work, Minto and Ichigo go to the school to investigate the "ghost". Instead, they find Retasu who was afraid of being isolated because of her new powers and started "haunting" the pool. After a brief fight, Ichigo and Minto calm her by explaining her Mew powers and welcome her to the team. While Ichigo is walking home, an alien named Quiche appears, steals her first kiss, and introduces himself before disappearing again. In 2003, a sequel manga, Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode, began serialization. It was written by Mia Ikumi, with Reiko Yoshida not returning, and starred a new protagonist named Berry Shirayuki/Mew Berry. At first, A la Mode was not warmly received by fans, who disliked its fast pace and the replacement of Ichigo as the main character. These days, the sequel is remembered more fondly, if still not as fondly as the original, and many fans have expressed a wish for it to be adapted into an anime someday. A classic revitalized, though that's nothing compared to the AniManga scene of the constant sequel effect, and it's honestly quite average at best.

Transcription: " Arashi no shintaisō, neko no mai de kagayaku hoshi ni naru nyan" ( Japanese: 嵐の新体操、ネコの舞で輝く星になるにゃん) The artwork isn't too bad, The characters look cool and the costumes are fun. The only problem is the repetition, each character baisically has one outfit which they wear constantly. It's no big deal though. The designs for the characters are really good, their faces match their personalities well and over all the emotions are pretty nicely portrayed. Keiichirou begins making a beautiful birthday cake for someone, and the girls ponder whom it might be for. Later, Ichigo meets a woman named Rei studying butterflies. She later learns that Rei is Keiichirou's ex-girlfriend, and the intended recipient of the cake. Even though they separated due to their different interests and jobs, he continues making her new birthday cakes for her. The girls try to get them meet again to resolve their lingering feelings. At Rei's house, her spirit is stolen by Pie and Tart and used to make a chimera anima. With help from Keiichirou, they are able to defeat the monster and retrieve Rei's spirit. In the end, Rei and Keiichirou truly go their separate ways.standard Mahou Shoujo fair. Our heroine Ichigo finds herself in the possession of unwanted, embarrassing, and often uncontrollable magical powers. These powers involve her growing cat ears and a tail and having many feline abilities and characteristics. She joins a group called Tokyo Mew Mew to fight against mysterious aliens who are trying to kill off the human race. Other Mew Mews steadily join the group until it reaches five. From here the true motivations of the villains become more defined and the episodes start to play out very much like most magical girl series do with a monster of the week which the girls must use their combined abilities to defeat. As I mentioned earlier, it all feels just a bit too familiar and predictable in the beginning portions of the series. If you do not have either of these things, I would recommend skipping this show. Below, I’ll explain a bit more about Mew Mew Power Broadcast Finished". Anime News Network. February 1, 2006 . Retrieved March 10, 2009.

While the anime was airing in 2002, two video game spinoffs were released. The first, Hamepane Tokyo Mew Mew, was a puzzle adventure game for Game Boy Advance, while the second, Tokyo Mew Mew: Enter the New Mew Mew! Everyone Serve Together was a Playstation RPG that introduced a new Mew Mew, Ringo Akai/Mew Ringo. Bu-Ling Huang: Bu-Ling Huang's name becomes Kikki Benjamin in the dub. Her age takes a large jump from 11 to 14. Kikki seems to be more blunt and pushy than Bu-Ling but her eager and energetic personality is still intact. The dub at first added that Kikki was homeless but then changed it when her home and family were shown in a future episode. It was also added that Kikki is very secretive about her family compared to the original where she has told older characters (Ryou, Keiichiro, and Heicha's Teacher) about her family situation. Mint gets a more focused storyline later after her idol and fifth Mew Mew, the rising starlet Zakuro, is introduced. But I think with shows that focus on ensemble casts and strong friendships, the monster-of-the-week screwing around really helps when you're trying to get a team to know each other and figure out who they are. There's technically nothing wrong with the show's current pacing even as it tries to rush to introduce all the major characters, but because there's little time to develop some of those bonds may feel less earned than they should.Transcription: " Ojōsama taiketsu, okane ja kaenai seigi no mikata" ( Japanese: お嬢さま対決、お金じゃ買えない正義の味方) At first glance Tokyo Mew Mew basically looks and feels like a rip-off of Sailor Moon with maids and catgirls, and for the first 15-20 episodes that’s pretty much what it is. But a funny thing happened on my way through this series; it got surprisingly good and wonderfully addictive. It should also be noted that my three year old daughter thinks this is the best thing in the history of television. While I certainly wouldn’t say that’s the case, watching her sing and dance to the opening "My Sweetheart" is almost too adorably cute for me to bear.

The Mew Mews of Ichigo Momomiya (bearing the Iriomote cat DNA), Mint Aizawa (bearing the Blue Lorikeet DNA), Lettuce Midorikawa (bearing the finless porpoise DNA), Bu-Ling Huang (bearing the golden lion tamarin DNA) and Zakuro Fujiwara (bearing the gray wolf DNA), they are the stereotypical "Girl Power" team to save the world from the aliens whom had their home destroyed to smithereens, and Earth is their next place of interest to do the same evildoer stuff. Like you know, each and every Mahou Shoujo tried-and-true formula that predates Madoka Magica. This is pretty stereotypical for the time, and for the most part, the remake serves its purpose well by adapting only the first 3 out of the 7 volumes closely and sprinkling whatever the production staff wants to add into it, making it into a modern remake of an old property, plus new songs to boot in its decency. But this is the same reason where the remake also lost a lot of its luster by being a low-tier production of today's anime industry standards, that not only gives little to no respect to the original, but instead is made in such a way that provides a source of income invested into the project. It's just sad that old legends, whether popular or not, their status have been mostly being castaways of a time where anime was fun (and it still is to this day), but it's how the anime industry had grown up to become an exploitative industry of work that all works are regarded the same way, and to me, this is not how things should've been, but it is what it is. Tokyo Mew Mew is a really awsome anime to watch.........everything about it*in my opinion* is SO awsome!i mean its story, art, sound, characters, and everything else is awsome a b "Mew Mew Power This Saturday". Anime News Network. February 15, 2005 . Retrieved March 10, 2009.After she defeats the monster, researchers Ryou Shirogane and Keiichiro Akasaka explain that Ichigo was chosen to become a part of the Mew Project: a group of five magical girls whose DNA has been infused with those of certain endangered species. Now, Ichigo must find the rest of her teammates to defeat the Chimera Anima—beings infected by aliens who want to take over the world—before it is too late. What was really surprising to me was just how satisfying the romance elements of the plot played out. Ichigo is pretty singularly focused for the most part on her main crush Aoyama, who eventually becomes her steady boyfriend. Though this doesn’t prevent her from occasionally having conflicting feelings about other boys which given her age is not all that surprising or unexpected. It was also nice to see that other characters were given their own relationships though some were better than others. (One in particular was frustratingly annoying) Ultimately the ending both for the main plot and the romance is extremely satisfying and well done.
