About this deal

The Unagi Model One charges in just under five hours—from zero to a full battery. There is a convenient LED indicator that will turn green when the battery is fully charged. Unagi features Folding & portability

In other words, this is the electric scooter most business professionals would want to ride to work, especially if they’re wearing their suits on those daily commutes but still want to look cool. While the Model One won’t offer you much shelter, it should be able to withstand a light shower without any adverse effects. The Model One is equipped with an IP54 water-resistant rating, which means that it has a level of protection from water spray. So if you’re shopping on a budget, this is probably not the scooter for you. But if you’ve got a bit more cash to toss around and you want something special, it’s hard to find any scooters more unique than the Unagi Model One Voyager. It doesn’t just look good, it also performs well. You’ll just have to pay up for that elusive combination.lighter than aluminum, the Unagi’s magnesium alloy handlebar is a thing of beauty. Sleek and sexy and milled from a single piece of magnesium alloy, the integrated top bar creates seamlessness found in few electric scooters.

The perfectly placed display shows you your speed, dual/single motor status, odometer, how many ‘bars’ remain on your battery charge, and the riding mode. The panel is clear and there’s little need to squint because of screen glare when you’re riding on a bright, sunny day. Below the command center is the circular power button. Coming in at a cool 26 lbs (10.4 kg), the Model One is easily portable. But don’t let the fear of flimsiness put you off – the Model One doesn’t feel like it would break easily. This is largely because of its stem being made of carbon fiber, which not only helps reduce weight but also enables the stem to be narrow without forsaking durability. It’s also worth noting that while going downhill the motors govern your speed so that the scooter doesn’t ‘run away’ from you, which is a great safety feature for the beginner rider who is still getting to grips with handling the scooter. This also ensures that the brakes can effectively bring the scooter to a standstill when needed.

Tube of all Tubes

You need to get to work every day but don't have access to a car (or don't want to pay for one), what options do you have? Hands down, an electric scooter is the number one choice for urban commuting. We believe that portability is key when it comes to designing the perfect scooter. That's why we make it our primary objective with every scooter we create, and it's embedded in our core DNA. But it's not just about being lightweight; winning in portability means designing every detail with ease of use in mind. The E500 Unagi Model One feels zippier than any Unagi scooter yet. Its acceleration is spot-on; it can reach 15mph (24 kph) in 4.4 seconds. This makes it the fastest of any 26-lb (11.79 kg) scooter out there.

The Unagi Model One is futuristic, sleek, and made from high-quality materials. We loved how its components—crafted from aluminum and magnesium carbon fiber—felt durable yet lightweight. One thoughtful detail we welcome is the dedicated driving mode button, which can be found above the throttle. It’s small, very similar to the horn button, but it’s easy to press and does make changing driving modes during rides a less stressful affair. Instead of you having to let go of one handle, so you can press the power button that usually moonlights as the driving mode button (at least on other e-scooters), you literally just reach for it with your thumb, much like you would to press the throttle. It’s brilliant. While Unagi is going for more of a mass-market appeal, their scooters have never been for everyone. They’re definitely not for people chasing maximum performance–though the Model One outclasses a lot of entry level scooters–and they’re not going to appeal to riders who want the cheapest product possible. The batteries powering the Unagi Model One come from LG. As such, you can rest assured that they’re high quality. They’re durable, reliable, and built to be long-lasting. As a result, you can enjoy the fact that the Model One should require very little (or even zero) maintenance. Above these thumb controls are tiny yellow buttons—hit the one on the left and your ears will be treated to what's arguably the most useless horn. It's just … not the kind of blaring sound you want. No one jolts when they hear it (believe me, I've tried it on pedestrians and cars in the bike lane and no one bats an eye). It sounds like the ordinary beeps and boops of a scooter and not a “GET OUT OF THE WAY" alarm. It's easily drowned out by the bustle of the city.

Brilliant Motor

Pressing the button above the accelerator paddle, on the other hand, performs one of two different functions. Pressing it once displays your current trip and total mileage on the screen. Hyman’s sense of style and music connections helped make the Model One a favorite for celebrities. But his mission has always been to keep things practical and approachable, and that’s easy to see in the Unagi Voyager, which only improves on the Model One Classic’s lightweight and portable design. The Unagi Model One also has an electric braking system, as opposed to disc brakes. Though this exhibits superb stopping power, it’s so effective that on several occasions I found it too abrupt, jerking me forward unexpectedly. The shape of the handlebars reminds us of the Starship Enterprise. Everything is well laid out and easy to navigate, giving this scooter a very premium look and feel. Mode one is suitable for beginner riders, or eco riding to maximize battery performance, with a top speed of 9 mph. Here, there is a gentle acceleration curve that enables you to feel in control.
