About this deal

When shooting timelapses with drones there are some specific limitations compared to traditional cameras, as with drones in most cases we cannot use a shutter speed slower than one second without losing detail due to camera shake. ND filters come in different strength values, according to the amount of light reduction. In photography and videography, we are familiar with the concept of exposure stops to describe variations of luminosity. The idea of stops can be applied to any of the three parameters of exposure: ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed Freewell is a brand that over the years has consistently produced quality filters for drones at reasonable prices, even though not the cheapest

Pros: The biggest advantage is convenience, because you don't have to carry around a bunch of different filters. Two filters give you coverage between 2 and 512, which is a huge range. Starting at 2, the filtering increments in doubles, so lens filter one gives you 2,4,8,16, and 32. Lens filter 2 gives you stops 32, 64, 128 and 512. This is a HUGE range, and you'd need 10 separate filters to duplicate this functionality. Allows you to slow down the shutter speed: The photographer can capture lengthy exposures and motion blurs. Some of these filter sets also offer multi-coated glass and claim to not impact the color of the light that’s filtered.

Please note that werecommend only using official DJI ND filters, as they are specially designed to work well with the gimbal camera’s center of gravity.

DJI’s own filter set is fairly priced, but for a similar cost, the other two filter sets will cover a broader range of light conditions. What is an ND filter? For the use of ND filters with the Mini 3 Pro, or with any prosumer drone, we should focus on Shutter Speed, as it is the main parameter we want to control. By doubling the shutter speed, we reduce the amount of light hitting the sensor by one stop. As an example, by increasing the shutter speed from 1/25 to 1/50, we reduce the luminosity by one stop ND filters are typically made from plastic or glass that has been tinted by a specific amount. Most ND filters for the DJI Mini 3 come in at under 1g in mass so that the Mini 3 can retain its sub-250-gram status. You can then swap out ND filters and the lens cap as required. Just don’t lose the original lens cap, as it helps protect the camera lens from dirt and scratches. Time lapses are all about movement and movement involves motion blur, as this is the way our eyes see motion, so the correct amount of motion blur is crucial for time lapses and hyperlapses, a make-or-break factorND filters for the DJI Mini 3 Pro also powerfully capture clouds and sky. Such filters blur the moving clouds to achieve a magical and dramatic visual intrigue. ND filters are the best-selling accessory for drones, but many users don’t know much about them and often ask if they should buy them and why I am the owner of two YouTube channels specializing in Videography and Photography, with a focus on drones
