About this deal

The Bronze 2 is the larger of two standmount models in a line-up starting with the Bronze 1, and going all the way up to the Bronze 6 floor standers, taking in dedicated center and surround speakers, plus a powered subwoofer, along the way. That pattern is echoed all the way up the range, offering the buyer the choice of either a no-frills dedicated stereo set-up, or the ability to build a surround system without compromising two-channel quality.Launched in May 2015, the current Bronze Series is the latest generation of a line-up that’s been a mainstay of the Monitor Audio offering for some years, and develops the old BX range with the adoption of technology from further up the hierarchy. The tweeter is the familiar 25mm ‘Gold Dome’ Monitor Audio model, but the more striking visual aspect of the speaker – and indeed the entire Bronze range – is the use of a 16.5cm ‘dish’ C-CAM driver for the mid/bass, this enabling the whole diameter of the driver to be used as the radiating area, without the change in geometry at the center caused by a conventional center-cap or phase-plug design. Monitor Audio Bronze 2 Review: BOLT MOUNT DRIVERS Place the speakers on chairs or stands (if you can borrow some). Start with the speakers in the corners. Play some music. Sit in your normal listening position (hopefully centred between the speakers?) so that your ears are at about the same height as half way between the mid-bass unit and the tweeter. Slowly pull the speakers out into the room, as the music is playing, being careful not to pull the leads out of the speaker terminals. At some point the bass should snap into focus. That will be the position that the speakers should be for best sound in your room. But it may not be a postion you can live with. If nothing else this will help guide you in how much sound quality you are giving up by placing the speakers in a non optimum position. No matter how much speaker designers may enjoy indulging their higher-end fantasies with the budgetary ties loosened off, getting stuff right on the ground floor is the most valuable thing they will ever do for their paymasters. Affordable is often mistaken as a euphemism for cheap, but in reality it’s the place where the bond between brand and customer is either made or broken and cheap is most definitely not the impression that needs to linger. You can draw a parallel with a restaurant’s house wine. It may be the least costly thing on the wine list, but woe betide the establishment that supplies cheap plonk if it thinks return custom might be the way forward.

Also i have listened them for about while and for comparison the jbl' speakers was brand new from the box with no extra time to settle. I even upgrade Yamaha's firmware and even perform factory reset but still no expected sound. I repeat bass and treble is on the max level. I have no room to play less because sound is flat I even played with speakers positions.... Nothing changed. Im hopeless If someone ask why you don't return them simply i can't because im from Macedonia and i buy my hifi from UK. Bronze 2 comes with grilles. The purpose of the grille is to protect the delicate driver elements from external impacts while still allowing the sound to pass as clearly as possible.Monitor Audio signature C-CAM Gold Dome Tweeter upgraded with the new Uniform Dispersion (UD) Waveguide for an incredibly lifelike sound A few months ago i bought a new Sony stereo "ES series", then after that i was looking for a pair of matching speakers. I've listened to B&W's, Kef's, Missions and these BR2's. The BR2's reduces the lively analytical sound of my Sony amp a bit because of their smooth and warm heights. Here we place the Monitor Audio Bronze 2 virtually next to a standard width amplifier and turntable on a BDI Octave Media Cabinet to get a better idea about the size.

Monitor Audio gives this affordable range its own subwoofer, which means it's one of the brand's less advanced models. There's none of the Silver Series' mic-assisted automatic room EQ on the Bronze W10, but the 10in driver/10in passive radiator design, trio of sound presets, and claimed 220W grunt, make it far from a basic bass-bin. C-CAM mid-bass driver featuring updated cone geometries and Damped Concentric Mode (DCM) technology which allows the speaker to have a deeper, fuller sound while retaining a clean and precise presentation

What Hi-Fi? Awards 2018 winner. The Bronze 2s are stunning standmounters...

Dimensions (Including Grille and Terminals (H x W x D)): 350 x 185 x 281 mm (133/4 x 75/16 x 111/16″) The BR2's are not that fussy about room positioning, only reminder is: put them not to close in a corner. Isn't that possible: a pair of sponge bungs are included to reduce dominating bass. Speaker Cables with Banana Plugs: If you know the lenght of the cable you need, this is the easier option to connect your speakers with your amp.

Base surface area of a loudspeaker may become a determining factor when the space in your room or desk is limited. Do you have a subwoofer in your system? Great. Then your speakers are small. Before you get all upset, read on. This is one of those audio myths whose time has come to be busted. To understand why, we need to talk about Bass Management. It’s all anchored by the sensational BXW-10, which delivers a bass slam so deep and potent that the Chilean miners would have felt it. What’s more it never lags behind or sounds flabby when relaying sudden bangs and thuds, thanks to its tautness and dynamic punch. Fast forward to the early 90s when the first DSP powered home theater receivers started to appear. Along with progress came complexity. Some industry forces believed that Bass Management should be an option that could be turned on and off by the consumer. That’s not necessarily a bad idea, but to make an informed decision requires much more knowledge about the system than what was available to the typical consumer. So, the Large and Small rule of thumb was established. The idea was to look at the size of your speakers and decide whether their woofers were “large enough” to reproduce the lowest octaves at the required levels. It was a noble thought, but looking at it 15 years later I believe that it has led to nothing but massive confusion. The poor consumer was led to believe that Large is somehow a good thing and was then left wondering why there was nothing coming out of their subwoofer. The tweeter’s so-called Uniform Dispersion Waveguide is essentially the same as that of the Silver series from the range above and acts like a sophisticated phase plug to better control off-axis dispersion from the slightly recessed dome. It also fine tunes time alignment with the large main drivers and slightly lowers the frequency point it hands over to them.

Acoustic Panels and Treatments: Your room is as important as your stereo equipment so acoustic treatments goes a long way in improving the overall performance. Monitor Audio Bronze 2 has external dimensions of (Height x Width x Depth) 13.7 x 7.2 x 11.0inch (350.0 x 185.0 x 281.0mm ). As a result, the BR2 doesn't have the smoothest sound around, but it is both coherent and dynamic, and also has the characteristic agility and clean bottom end of a standmount. Indeed, it's when you go to a well aligned standmount after trying a series of floorstanders that you realise what an obvious advantage a quality standmount like this Monitor Audio has when it comes to delivering a crisp, clear, lively and informative bottom end. The BR2 gives little if anything away in terms of weight and scale, yet it punches out the bottom end with a real sense of purpose and drive, especially for the size.

Replacing the subwoofer won't help if it is the room or the placement that is causing the problems. You can get anti-modes that are separate equalisers just for subs, or even isolation platforms that might help. I am not an expert on subs, so maybe someone else will come along to advise a bit more on that, or you could ask in the separate subwoofer forums. Single bolt-through driver systems for increased overall bracing, rigidity and driver/baffle de-coupling Detail retrieval is superb too. ”Iron Man 2’s” quieter moments are few and far between, but when they do happen you can savour subtle sounds like chattering crowds and gentle echoes. Dialogue reproduction is remarkably sophisticated for a so-called entry-level speaker too, almost matching the authority and presence of Monitor Audio’s more expensive centres. That means speech is clear and life-like, coming through clearly no matter how raucous the scene gets. But more than that, there’s a crispness and airy clarity to its performance that’s rare among its price peers, especially in the context of the speaker’s easy-breathing largesse, which makes for a distinctive and enjoyable mix of attributes. As has been a feature of previous Bronze models, detail retrieval is strong but so well integrated into the larger musical picture that it never lapses into dry analysis.Only when you've done all that would I consider changing the speakers. Most hi-fi buffs agree that you start with the sources, then move down the chain, finishing up with the speakers. Play some music and adjust the toe-in of the speakers. Which angle do they sound best to you on a variety of music? Class-leading drive units can only perform at their best if housed within a decent cabinet and here, once again, the Bronze range excels. The 21/15mm (baffle/cabinet) MDF construction features internal bracing for reduced vibration – giving cleaner, less distorted audio. Silver-plated, oxygen-free copper internal cable gives the highest quality current transfer, keeping the signal optimised. Redirecting the bass to the subwoofer relieves the receiver amplifiers from having to work on reproducing the low frequencies and this greatly improves the headroom. If you happen to be using Audyssey MultEQ for room correction, you will achieve much better low frequency performance because the MultEQ subwoofer filters have 8x higher resolution than the filters in the other channels.
