About this deal

Gordon and the Gremlin comes before A Better View for Gordon, meaning that audiences may not know about Gordon's view at Kirk Ronan. Percy passes through Wellsworth long before the narrator says he does. This is because, in the original book, the near-collision happened at Knapford rather than Wellsworth. The front cover of the 1991 Australian and 1992 New Zealand releases feature an image from Saved from Scrap. On the original release, the "Britt Allcroft Presents" logo sequence is cut out, but it is reinstated on the VUDU digital release. The close-up shots of the Fat Controller scolding Cranky after the storm were filmed on 8 October 1997.

When Edward's driver says "I'll get out my paint tomorrow" he has a stain on his right shoulder (viewers' left). It's full steam ahead once again for Thomas, the little blue engine with the short stumpy funnel, short stumpy boiler and short stumpy dome. Share 9 exciting new adventures with Thomas and his friends Gordon, Henry, James, Percy, Edward, Toby, Annie and Clarabel the coaches, and of course, the Fat Controller. Thomas' special friend, story-teller Ringo Starr, says "Thomas is a smashing little engine - he's Number One and never lets anyone forget it!" In the Shining Time Station episode, A Place Unlike Any Other, Ringo Starr's line, "Edward's driver came up" is the same as in its UK counterpart, while some US dubs of Ringo Starr's dub have the line re-recorded.

Gordon and the Famous Visitor" and "Wrong Road" both have overlapped and warped audio on the VHS version. This is corrected on the DVD release. An audio cassette tape was included with some VHS releases for a limited time. It featured the following songs: This was the last VHS released by Festival Records and CEL Home Video in Australia and New Zealand, respectively. When this episode was originally released on the Thomas Comes to Breakfast 1998 VHS in Canada, it had no narration and only included the music and sound effects. This was later corrected on 2000 Thomas Comes to Breakfast and Other Thomas Adventures VHS tapes released in Canada. In the Shining Time Station episode, A Place Unlike Any Other, Ringo Starr's line "and off he ran laughing" was used, much like its UK counterpart, while some US dubs of Ringo Starr's dub have him say, "And off Thomas ran laughing."

The barrel the Fat Controller stands on near the end of the episode is the " Best Quality Diesel Oil" barrel from the fourth series episode, Bowled Out. The Fat Controller: Thomas and Percy will help you, and then you can help the other engines. Cranky: Oh, please, hurry. And tell them I'm sorry I was rude to them. The Fat Controller: So it was you. I owe those engines an apology. An unidentified object obstructs the camera lens in the top-left corner of the shot when James and Henry pass by at Knapford. The object is most likely studio equipment. The whistle pattern Thomas makes when he wakes Gordon up for the second time is used in Mister Moose's Fun Time whenever Thomas' segment in that show is coming up next. Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree - The Fat Controller is planning a big celebration, but Thomas goes missing on an important mission. The engines come to his rescue and there is a splendid party after all. As Cranky tips over and falls, the straining metal sound is heard in the US and other international dubs. The German audiobook features an extra scene of Gordon feeling guilty about what he did to Thomas, which could have foreshadowed him and Thomas forming their alliance in Down the Mine. James and the Coaches - James bangs the coaches by being too rough, and brings the train to a stop. The passengers get home only after a piece of ingenious repair work by the guard.

The narrator mentions that all the other engines are bigger than Edward. This is not true, as Thomas is actually the smallest engine and James is the same size as Edward. The first time Thomas' suspicious face is used and the first appearance of his grinning face with a wider mouth and higher eyebrows which would be used mostly in the fifth series only along with his regular grinning face. When Percy puffed up next to Gordon, the former's face is rather misaligned and the latter's tender is also derailed. The DVD was originally released exclusively as part of the Best of Collection DVD boxset in October 2003. It later was given an individual release in February 2004.

Daisy - Thomas is in trouble. The Fat Controller sends for Daisy, a diesel railcar to help run his Railway. Daisy is spoilt and hard to please - as everyone soon discovers. On a promotional pamphlet for ABC for Kids videos in 1991, the Australian re-release was listed as "Gordon & Percy". Thomas and Gordon - Thomas, the little blue engine, is cheeky to Gordon once too often. So the big blue engine decides to give Thomas a lesson he won't forget.
