I could have gone for the C2 or the G2, but not worth it for me just for a little bit more brightness compared to my own Sony LED TV. And then having to baby the thing too, even though burn in risk is lessened these days compared to older models. The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. Second, bass can be lighter in its contribution to the overall soundstage than the large size of the rear bass driver had me hoping for, and can also cause a little chassis buzzing under extended bass pressure.

TCL TVs may not be the best for gamers, largely opting out of supporting features like VRR or 120Hz, but this is often the case across brands at this price. High-end gaming features usually come with higher-end price tags, while TCL TVs will have no trouble with casual gaming, especially if you’re still playing on PS4 or Xbox One. The TCL C935 is way better than the QNED, looks and sounds better, cheaper too. It gets super bright, not that I’d have it at max brightness, but it’s better to have it and not use it than need it and it’s not available. The local dimming works well, no complaints. And don’t have to worry about babying the thing, can leave it running no problems and also do as much gaming as necessary too without having to worry about burn in from HUD’s or anything like that. I should stress that these colour issues only crop up with bright HDR10 scenes/image areas. Dark HDR10 shots and scenes look pretty normal where colours are concerned – although, ultimately, this just makes the excesses with bright scenes all the more glaring.TCL's first mini LED TV to hit the UK leaves John Archer mostly impressed, but ruing some missed opportunities

The LG QNED wasn’t worth the price. I wasn’t impressed with it overall, it had a horrible awkward stand attached to it, blotchy local dimming, and also came with coil whine too. While TV designs typically seem keen to crow about keeping speakers hidden away as if they’re some sort of dirty secret, personally I have no problem with the TCL’s public display of sound-quality affection. The soundbar manages to radiate sound up as well as forward, creating at least a vague sense of height with Dolby Atmos mixes – although there aren’t really any specific overhead effects to speak of.For those of the alternate voice service persuasion, the C835 can also be connected to Alexa smart devices. VRR eliminates lag, judder and frame tearing effects for fluid and better detailed gameplay. This TV is 144hz VRR native: the highest standard in the TV industry and perfect for e-sport games and FPS.: smoother and seamless gameplay without any tearing. AMD Freesync premium for serious gamers with a fluid, tear-free gameplay experience at peak performance. When it comes to operating systems, TCL hedges its bets. One each of these three TVs runs Android TV, Google TV and Roku OS. Across all of them, you’ll get familiar features like VESA mounting, HDR, Dolby Audio, virtual assistant support, and more. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. Upscaling of HD sources is a touch disappointing given the promises of ‘Deep Learning’ intervention, leaving things looking a little soft and undetailed versus the sort of results we are now accustomed to getting from the likes of Samsung, LG and Sony. The C845K’s upscaling at least doesn’t look noisy or ‘rough’, though, so we would say it remains good enough for such an affordable TV capable of such heroics with native 4K.

The 65C815K exhibits mixed fortunes with its contrast. Watching it in a dark room using its out-of-the-box presets, three contrast points immediately stood out: two good, one bad. This fact does bring us quite early on to the C845K’s biggest picture weakness, though. Namely, a slightly cloudy look that can sometimes appear with shots and scenes that contain a bold mixture of very bright and very dark content, as the local light controls wrestle with achieving the best balance of local contrast and HDR brightness. The Google smarts also make setup an easy process, getting the TV on your home network and walking you through how to use the remote control for voice activation. The 65C815K’s pictures are… complicated. A unique mix of unexpected strengths and more predictable weaknesses. The C845K’s so-called Game Master Pro 2.0 system provides VRR support too, in the AMD FreeSync and ‘basic’ HDMI flavours, as well as ALLM switching so the TV will always turn to its fast-response Game mode when a game source is detected.

Virtualized 3D sound

DCI P3 is a color space, introduced in 2007 by the SMPTE. It is used in digital cinema and has a much wider gamut than the sRGB. The random-access memory (RAM) is used by the operating system and the software applications installed. Usually, more RAM provides better performance. Information about the minimum amount of time, in which the pixels change from one color to another. Very often the manufacturer provides the response time for transition from grey-to-grey (G2G). It won us over in our review, earning itself five stars and a subsequent What Hi-Fi? Award as a result, due to its sheer performance per pound proposition. It's contrast-rich and vivid colours secured it the win, making a case for opting for this cheaper model over the more expensive OLED sets on the market.
