Very few spells are shown that can be performed in a controlled manner without a wand. These include the Animagus transformation and Floo transport. (Note that while this last does not require a wand, it does require other equipment, notably Floo Powder.) It is uncertain whether Apparition and Disapparition require the use of a wand, as no wand gestures are indicated; we never see any wizards or witches apparating themselves without a wand. Krum's name is chosen by the Goblet of Fire, making him the Durmstrang champion for the Tournament. His headmaster, Igor Karkaroff, seems to feel that the Goblet has made the only logical choice. Krum does not say much when Harry is also chosen as a Champion; Karkaroff has to do most of his talking for him. Krum leaves the room with Professor Karkaroff after the information about the First Task has been given by Barty Crouch While the extent of his magical skills is unknown, Karkaroff must have been a skilled wizard, given that he was the Headmaster of Durmstrang as well as a former Death Eater. His skills were such that he was able to evade the likes of Alastor Moody and even Lord Voldemort himself for extended periods of time. [14]
