About this deal

Verdict: Known for its olive oil, Bertolli has now put its name to a range of pasta sauces. While the price point is higher than the other tomato and Basil sauces we tried, we think it's worth spending the extra money. In fact it's so delicious there's no need for extra seasoning. Plus it's low in saturated fats and isn't bad on the calorie side either. All in all it's a great sauce and a worthy contender - we're hoping there's more flavours to come from Bertolli. Lightly Coat the potatoes in the olive oil and place in a small ovenable dish. Place into a preheated 180C oven for 10 minutes. Remove, turn the potatoes, and add the red onion. Cook for another 20 minutes, ensuring the potatoes are cooked through. Pour over the sauce, top with the cheese and return to the oven for 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and beginning to brown. Whether you’re serving Bolognese, lasagne, or macaroni cheese, our convenient ready-made sauces mean it’s never been easier to create your favourite dish.

This creamy, sweet pasta sauce is a little higher in sugar than others on the list, but still under the recommended 5g per 100g.For groups of 4 or more, or if you're prepping meals in advance, try a 400g jar or larger. However, don't forget the intensity of the flavour will also make a difference to the quantity you'll need – a bowl of spaghetti only requires a heaped spoonful of pesto or truffle sauce, while you'll want to use more of tomato-based sauces per person. Lastly, take note of the volume of each pasta sauce, and the recommended number of servings. These do differ from brand to brand, so weigh up bothdepending on who's coming for dinner and your family's appetite size, as well as the fact it's probably easier to buy a a couple of jars just in case! Verdict: Generally speaking this isn't the healthiest pasta sauce, but in terms of cheese sauces Asda's Four Cheese Pasta Sauce isn't too bad. This is unfortunately reflected in the taste. While it has a creamy texture, it also has a bland flavour and definitely needs extra seasoning. Try adding a clove of garlic and grating some extra cheese on top if you're looking for a treat. Brown 500g of lean beef mince in a saucepan until juices run clear, take the saucepan off the heat and add the tomato sauce stirring well. First and foremost – flavour. Think about your favourite flavours, or those of who you're serving to, so you can buy a sauce that will bring maximum joy!
