I’m 6ft on the nose, and I begin to reach the length limits of the tent, partially due to its tapered shape. I suspect 6’4” is probably the point where you’d have to start bending your legs to avoid a face full of flysheet. Pitching takes only a matter of minutes with one pole that runs through the middle of the tent and 4 reflective guy lines. The Zephyros can be pitched with the inner attached to save time, alternatively it can be disconnected to wash or to use on it's own as a bug shelter in hot, dry climates. The tent has Superflex alloy main and end poles. The main pole folds down to 30cm long, plus alloy ‘V’ angle pegs. The Zephyros Compact 1 is a fully waterproof tent, with sealed seams. As it was my final day staying in the Cairngorms it was time for a ride up to Ryvoan Bothy, via that weirdly green Lochan, can never remember the name! Built last night for a wet first ride today (thanks to the @pedalsbikecare team for a last minute steerer cut yesterday!). The inner tent has a mesh panel in the top half of the door plus a mesh panel at each end of the inner tent to help with air flow and manage condensation. After a night of heavy rain and a bit of experimenting with a hose pipe I can confirm than the tent is pretty waterproof. A camp by the Linn of Dee was lovely, beautiful sunshine at sunset and a few whiskies were had, it also is in the middle of a figure of eight route wise so you have options.This tough and waterproof footprint is designed to prolong the life of your Zephyros 1 tent and help to keep the inside nice and dry, it will also protect the groundsheet from sharp objects and dirt. The outer canopy is rated at 4,000mm hydrostatic head, with the groundsheet at 5,000mm. In real terms this means it will keep you dry. We pitched ours atop a Cornish cliff just before an awful Atlantic storm barrelled over us. There is room to sit up inside and store gear and cook undercover – though care is needed with the latter (a low profile stove is best). Short poles at each end lift the flysheet a little for better headroom when lying down and also aid stability. The inner tent has a half mesh door and mesh panels at each end for ventilation. There’s no vent on the flysheet though so if the door zip has to be fully closed moist air can’t escape. Separation between the inner and outer is good though so avoiding condensation on the flysheet isn’t difficult. An all-in-on pitch design keeps hassle to a minimum whilst the two flysheet doors offer better versatility and are fitted with further mesh panels for even more effective ventilation.
