In either case, you might want to consider the babies of the range, these Spektor 1s, instead. The ultra-compact Spektor 1 and its slightly larger sibling Spektor 2 are ideal for wall mounting, shelf or stand positioning in combination with any compact Hi-Fi music system. At no point will you miss a lyric thanks to an overpowering bass drum, or the muddying complications of a lead guitar. Highs, mids and lows are presented in perfect harmony, and the longer you listen, the more details will jump out at you.At just 24 cm in height, and a compact 19 cm in depth, the Spektor 1 is definitely on the small side for a hi-fi speaker, but with the help of a port on the rear of the cabinet, performance suffers negligible losses and with a little bit of rear wall enforcement, these speakers are able to sound like a much larger speaker than their physical dimensions would suggest. DALI have opted for an 11 cm drive unit – a smaller version of their favoured wood fibre unit found on the rest of the Spektor range, and looking fetching with its purplish hue – as well as the same 21mm tweeter. The woofer used in the Spektor 1 is developed specifically for this speaker. Even small details like the angle of the cone and the size of the dust cap is optimised for the best possible integration, dispersion and performance. Amplifier Friendly Speaker Cables without Connectors: If you are not sure about the lenght or need longer than standard cables with plugs, choose this option. Given their relatively small size, they can easily fill a large room with more volume than you’re ever likely to need, keeping things tight with no distortion or fuzz as you crank things up. If you want a taste of high end sound on a student’s budget, then shop around for a pair of DALI Spektor 1s. I still listen to them nearly every day and I never tire of their astonishing performance, for what amounts to peanut costs. The ’1s are stunning with vocal-based material. We listen to the likes of Tracy Chapman’s Telling Stories, Van Morrison’s Moondance and Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago and marvel at the way these speakers deliver voices in such a solid and expressive way. You’d need to spend closer to four figures to get any better in this respect. There are rivals that dig up as much information, but few deliver it with such a sense of passion and enthusiasm. Nominal Impedance of 6 Ohms makes the DALI Spektor 1 a relatively difficult to drive speaker compared to more frequently found 8 ohms speakers from nominal Impedance perspective. These are really tiny two way speakers, just 237 X 140 X 197 mm. They are rated at 83 db efficient and can handle a power range of 40-100 watts. They are nominally rated as 6 ohm speakers. By using only DALI designed and custom-built drivers, the need for frequency correction in the crossover is eliminated. This enables us to design an exact crossover out of quality components which ensures that the signal loss is close to zero.

Dali has tried to keep this speaker as versatile as possible, even including a rear panel fixing to make wall mounting easier. While these speakers sound notably more balanced than most rivals when used right up against a wall, if possible, we suggest pulling them around 30cm into the room to make the most of their excellent stereo imaging and midrange clarity. An added benefit is hugely reduced harmonic distortion and diffractions causing frequency distortion, as these will always be stronger in an on-axis response. This is also the reason why all Dali speakers are not designed for toeing-in. Wood Fibre Cones The wood fibre cones are a DALI trademark, as well as a proven DALI technology. The SPEKTOR 1 cone membrane is crafted from a mix of fine grained paper and wood fibre pulp. This makes the cones very ridged, very light weight and the unevenness in the structure of the membrane helps minimize unwanted surface resonances. The Spektor 1 tweeter is able to render high frequencies with high accuracy. This means very short excursions, but at high speed, - or rather with high acceleration. In other words, it features a low moving mass and a strong motor.
