Description

Chip all 5 balls to the easy hole first and record how many you can get within 5 feet of the cup. Each successful chip to inside 5 feet scores a point.

Each team is divided into 4 groups and begins in one of the bays. Each player takes it in turn to try and land a ball in the scoring zone for his or her bay. Each player has 2 attempts in each bay before their group moves along to the next bay. Total number of points per bay are added together for all 4 groups to make the total score for the team. Choose from 5 different high drama game-modes (booklet included) and challenge your buddies to see who reigns as ultimate chipping champ, or play solo and master your short game. Similar to the chipping drill above, this putting drill tests your speed control and places pressure on you to hit each putt closer than the previous putt. In this video , Top 100 teacher Eric Johnson provides an example of the rule. He counts the paces from his ball to his target landing zone and onto the cup. He calculates 4 paces for flight and 12-paces for roll. I’ve seen some golfers chip well using a heavily wrist-y motion, and others who chip well using more of a free-flowing move. Like most things in golf, it’s all preference. You should determine what’s best for you based on what works.

Battle Chip – Fun Backyard Golf Chipping Game

An up and down is when you successfully chip a ball onto the green and sink the following putt on the first try. No two putts. Also, give some thought to the ideal place to putt from. While it would be great to chip it in, chances are you will still have to putt. Make it easier on yourself with a bit of planning. 5) Rotate Your Body The most important aspect of chipping (besides choosing the right club) is to make sure that the left wrist (or right wrist for left-handed golfers) does not break down during the chipping motion. The moment the wrist breaks down two things happen: Bring your clubs to the practice green, making sure you have your 7-iron, pitching wedge, and lob wedge handy. It challenges you to control your putting distance so that you leave yourself room for each following putt to beat the previous. If you make the first putt from 80 feet away, you can’t really beat that!

You might find you are better at a specific distance from the green but it doesn’t mean you’ll only face that distance and chip shot when you go out and play. Practice hitting different lengths of chips so that you become comfortable with all of them. Ideally, your focus should be on that 5 feet to 7 feet range since these are very common when you don’t hit the best chip shot or best lag putt. Golf Practice Plans (Follow these Programs)

It’s the golf version of corn hole. Instead of throwing sand bags at a corn hole board, you’ll chip golf balls trying to make them in different holes of a corn hole style chipping net. Alex Hay was a great influence during my first few years at Woburn. In sport more generally Sir Clive Woodward has taught me how to deliver at the highest level.
