About this deal

It wasn’t so much that we needed adapters, but more to do with the price Apple was charging for its simple USB-C hubs and adapters. They are also the best way to add an external display or two to your more mobile computer, plus Gigabit (or faster) Ethernet for wired Internet access. I have MacBook Air 13" with a Thunderbolt 2 port.....can anyone recommend a (mains powered preferably) Thunderbolt 2 USB hub which will plug into the Thunderbolt 2 port & has some USB 3 ports on the hub? All the USB (5x USB-A, 3x USB-C) and Thunderbolt ports (3x TB4) are super fast and offer impressive device charging—at the front, there’s a USB-C port with 20W power.

Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter About the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter

I have the OWC at work. I don’t have any complaints about it, but I’m not sure I’m really taxing it all that heavily. I’m only using it to drive a (relatively low-resolution) display, an ethernet adapter, and a USB port. Apple’s USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter allows you to connect your USB-C enabled MacBook port to an HDMI display, a standard USB device, and a charging cable – all at the same time. The USB port allows you to connect incompatible USB accessories (flash drives, cameras) to your USB-C enabled MacBook. Slim and sturdy while still being very portable, the latest version of Plugable 7-in-1 USB-C hub comes with HDMI port that can support an external 4K display at 30Hz. Thunderbolt 3 (TB3) can reach 40Gbps, but, unlike Apple, some Windows PC manufacturers didn’t choose to offer all TB3’s benefits. More recent iPhones and iPads include a USB-C to Lightning cable, and the iPad Pro includes a USB-C charging cable, so you don’t need the adapter for those devices. How to connect the Lightning EarPodsCaldigit has sacrificed one of the TB4 ports for a dedicated DisplayPort, which is fine if you need that video port but not as flexible as leaving three downstream TB4 ports with which you can add adapters for external displays. It matches the excellent Caldigit TS4 on port speed with 10Gbps US-A and USB-C, UHS-II SD card reader and 2.5Gb Ethernet alongside the two downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports— differing mainly by its choice of the more popular HDMI video port compared to the TS4’s DisplayPort. Use the Thunderbolt port of this adapter to connect your Mac to a display that uses a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 cable. For example, you can use this adapter to connect your Mac to an Apple Thunderbolt DisplayorLG Thunderbolt 2 display.

We would have preferred to swap one of the USB-A ports for a second USB-C, but appreciate the powerful 20W charging capability of that USB-C—enough to fast-charge a phone or other smaller device. Yes, the Element Hub can be daisy-chained to the TS3 Plus, or any dual port Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4 device such as the TS3 Plus. You can either have it first or second in the chain. We would recommend to have the TS3 Plus directly connected to the laptop since it provides higher laptop charging.Unlike other Thunderbolt 4 hubs on the market, the Element Hub has a fixed 60W laptop charging function. Whilst other Thunderbolt 4 hubs reduce their laptop charging capabilities down to 30W charging or lower when the hub is fully loaded,
