About this deal

Beyond that, this dehumidifier is very easy to use, the controls are all really well laid out, and there’s not too much to get your head around when it comes to operating it.

A simple easy to use control panel – we made the most often used buttons larger and the least used buttons smaller There are also hidden castors on the base of the dehumidifier, so rolling the unit from room to room is also an option. I found it rolled well on both hard floor and carpet, unlike many other dehumidifiers of this weight that struggled on carpet. Maintenance The only quieter dehumidifiers I've come across are Peltier models, like the Pro Breeze 1500ml Mini Dehumidifier. However, Peltier dehumidifiers are far less powerful than compressor dehumidifiers. For comparison, as I discovered in my Pro Breeze 1500ml Mini Dehumidifier review, this Peltier model can only extract 0.5L of moisture from the air per day, compared to the MeacoDry Arete One range which can extract 10, 12, 20, or 25L of moisture per day! On laundry mode, I put two loads of just cleaned washing on a clothes horse, letting the MeacoDry Arete One do its job. Once the laundry mode cycle had completed, the washing was dry. Performance can vary, depending on the relative humidity, the room in which you have the humidifier and the temperature. The Arete One also has an automatic shut-off function when its water tank is full. At this point, the unit will beep and a red light will be displayed to alert you that the tank needs emptying. This is a useful feature that cheaper dehumidifiers tend not to have, and gives peace of mind that your home's flooring isn't going to be damaged by any overspill. There's also a small window on the front of the dehumidifier that shows you the current water levels.

Unforeseen Circumstances

To find out more about compressor dehumidifiers, take a look at our Low Energy Compressor Dehumidifiers ? What makes a cost-effective dehumidifier?

This is potentially quite a difficult question to answer because the performance will vary from day to day. For example, the MeacoDry Arete 20L uses 216 watts at a power consumption at 20°C and 60%rh. That’s 7p/hour based on 34p/kWh, and around 56p if you run it for 8 hours a day. Different season – different costs Yes, there is an option of a charcoal filter to remove smells and volatile organic compounds from the air If there are access difficulties, which prevent our driver from delivering the goods into your property, you can request that we drop the items off outside for you to take in yourself. The advantage of the size, drying power and capacity is that the Arete One can dehumidify larger areas than your average 10-12L dehumidifier. I’ve had it working on an upstairs landing and a large downstairs hallway, and in both cases, it did a solid job of controlling humidity and drying out areas affected by damp or mould, although in these sorts of environments you need to leave it running for longer periods to make an impact.Because this isn’t a dedicated air purifier, it doesn’t have sensors to determine the air quality so the air purifier won’t automatically correct 'bad' air and will only work when the dehumidifier is running, but it’s still a great additional feature to have included. At night, with the dehumidifier placed in a room adjoining the bedroom, with the door to that room left open, I could barely hear it. But when I placed the unit in the hallway directly outside the bedroom door, it was much more noticeable, and my Fitbit agreed, telling me the following morning that my sleep score the previous night was a mere 'Fair' 75 with just 32 minutes of deep sleep. Of course, your tolerance of night-time noise may vary from mine. That said, this dehumidifier can also act as an air purifier, so there is an optional HEPA filter that you can fit into the dehumidifier. I’d recommend using it as this filter can help to clean the air whilst the dehumidifier is working.Bonus! Beyond that, maintenance is minimal for this machine. Because it’s white, it will show any dust that gathers on it, so it’s worth keeping the exterior clean just by wiping it down with a damp cloth occasionally.

Basically, if you have a larger house with large rooms and a damp problem, then this is the kind of dehumidifier you should look at if you want to deal with the issue. But is it up there the best?Yes, there is the option to connect a garden hose and continually drain water from the dehumidifier When you first get a dehumidifier it will run flat out drying out your house, so it may cost more to run initially. Once the house is dry it will only turn on when it’s needed. So your dehumidifier could end up running for several hours some days and then not running for a couple of weeks at all because the house is then dry. That means that the cost to run a dehumidifier will not be the same week-in, week-out. How much does it cost to run a compressor vs desiccant dehumidifier? And there’s a simple but clever solution for pouring out the water. With Arete there are two spouts: one to the left and one to the right. So you can pour the water away without having to juggle or twist the tank. It is the case that when a dehumidifier is new to a home that it will run hard to dry the house out for the first few weeks. Once the house (and the material in the house) are dry, then use will settle down and decrease. A: First, thanks for buying your dehumidifiers from us, and for recommending us to others! We really appreciate that.
