The 9500 will also do well with the K3, but I actually like it more with a simple E10K. And even despite that, It's a little heavy but the padding is fairly generous and soft on the ear pads and headband. Overall, it's fairly comfortable. The plastic build makes the headphones feel flimsy, which we’d argue is probably the headphones’ biggest flaw, but the silver lining is that they are then ultra-lightweight and don’t feel uncomfortable for long periods of time. Well, that’s about it for today my friend! I hope you’ve enjoyed this Philips SHP9500 vs. 9600 comparison, and now understand the main differences between them! There isn’t as much air around the instruments, which is something you will clearly hear and feel in relation to the breezier, cooler 9500.

The 9500, while feeling like complete air, did tend to move around a bit more than I’d like, which was the trade-off. It’s more subdued and less obnoxious, like your bratty teenage son who’s finally stopped smoking weed and eating Cheetos for breakfast. The 9600 will fare a bit better for bass-happier music: Hip-Hop, R&B, EDM, and Indie Pop all sound phenomenal with these. The metal headband does adjust to accommodate a number of head sizes, which is nice, and there's also some mesh padding on the bridge to cushion your cranium.Again, the small attention to detail here from Philips is more than admirable, it’s outright amazing that they would adjust and improve the fit.

The treble could still be better, though. You can still tell that these are..well, bright. The low-end helps a lot to rein in that impression, but in songs where you can hear particularly aggressive strings, this tends to be a minor nuisance. Overall, however, the treble extends well enough and doesn't give any compressed feeling, at least to my ears. I would never recommend a 9600 to people when they could just get a 9500 and then upgrade to a K702 later on down the road. The padding is a cloth material with memory foam on the inside, and while they can wear down over time, I feel like it happens much more gradually than with something like velour. Sound You like her, but you’re not in love with her. Intellectually, she’s not there. In truth, she’s kind of an airhead. It doesn’t really make much of a difference in practice though as most mobile devices will power either of them just fine.

Philips SHP9600 or SHP9500 : r/HeadphoneAdvice - Reddit Philips SHP9600 or SHP9500 : r/HeadphoneAdvice - Reddit

For this sound section, I will be sharing my experience with the SHP9600 whilst drawing comparisons to the SHP9500, as well as some of the competitors it faces in its price range, such as the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro, the DROP X Sennheiser HD 58X. Bass i was expecting these headphones to be a significantly better than my KZ ZST earphones but they sound significantly better than my new pair of Philips shp9600. where my impressions of my KZ ZST have a more cleaner bass sound where i can hear and distinguish different instruments clearly and my Philips shp9600 have specific genres that these are better on but the bass are more muddy and i cant distinguish sounds clearly. Still, I’d recommend an Amp/DAC for best results sound-wise. I listened to both with a wide array of setups: Both come in at 32 Ohm, but the 9600 is actually a dB more efficient at 102dB, vs. 101 for the 9500. The other difference is that the treble doesn’t have that bite that the 9500 had. Because of this, you can listen to it for longer periods of time without fatigue. It’s still numbered like the 9500, and not only is it easier to settle on a number appropriate for your head, but it actually holds its place this time. I think this was Philips’ answer to the 58X, but that headphone is much better ( read: better tuned) even despite its Soundstage not being quite as good as either the 9500 or 9600 – both of which are rather excellent. In brief, I would personally describe the SHP9600 as having a slightly coloured, energetic sound to it, with a bit of a bass emphasis, as well as some accentuation in the treble. Also, this probably won’t come as a surprise, but the SHP9600 is very reminiscent of the SHP9500. Both headphones share very similar tonal characteristics, but as we will discuss shortly, the SHP9600 brings about some fairly noticeable tuning changes–and, for the most part, I think that they are for the better. Note: The 9600 actually weighs a bit more than the 9500 (I included this in the about section on the graphic in the video), but was surprised.
