Finally, you can rely on neck posture exercises to get rid of tech neck or other posture-related problems that can contribute to more serious injuries down the line. It might be that your neck looks best at a size that’s a little different from those recommendations. You use the neck harness exactly as it would seem, with a small (or large) weight hanging down in front of you - from there, you can implement whatever technique you’d like. Before we start explaining specific exercises we recommend, let’s talk about general movement patterns first. While nothing compensates for adequate training, a suitable dog harness will certainly help to keep pulling to a minimum, which is where this dual-clip version comes into its own.

The varying rep schemes (high and low) are going to build the muscles of the neck and add density, while the big ranges of motion ensure mobility at the cervical spine. While it might seem that neck training would only apply to serious athletes, in actuality the versatile design of Neck Flex allows it to be utilized by not only those within contact sports, but it serves as an ideal resource for those simply looking to tone, firm, or build their necks for aesthetics. The Neck Flex® is a revolutionary patented head harness and training system that is changing the face of neck training as we know it. Also, keep in mind that while the demonstrations featured in the videos above are examples of how to train the neck, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Because in life, as in sports, you have to keep your head held high and you can't hit what you can't see. The muscles that influence the thickness of our necks are our upper traps (which are trained by compound lifts) and our sternocleidomastoid muscles. It could be that the small amount of neck stimulation we get from compound lifts is enough to maintain our neck size. Doing so allows the body to adapt to neck training without the added stress of weight resistance, thus preparing it for the strength aspect of the program.

Make no mistake though - it is just as important, if not more important, as the rest of your training.

Neck circumference and other clinical features in the diagnosis of the obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome. Most of the time when you’re deadlifting tons of heavy weights, doing sumo deadlifts using a machine or doing military presses, you’re going to develop some sort of muscle in your neck. It allows you to train the neck in all 360° ranges of motion which is vitally important for combat athletes. I bought a couple of them to test them out, and they do make heavy neck extensions quite a bit easier.

I like to start off with around 2 pounds and gradually bump things up to around 10 pounds, which is currently where I’m sitting. Note: The weight you choose for neck extensions and neck flexion may be slightly more than what you use for the neck lateral flexion. I used weight plates so that I could gradually use heavier loads over time, making it easier to gauge my progress. In fact, because my shoulders had grown so much broader, my neck looked proportionally skinnier by the end of my bulk. You don’t need a lot of extra features, although the chinstrap may be a difficult thing to get used to (from the pictures it looks like it could be somewhat uncomfortable).
